one question, did it really work with you with the .02 (you think the .01 works too?) FW and Annex A?
Without any sync problems?
It would be great 'cause I'd love to use it in Spain ...
and what kind of probs did you have with the printer?
any other using the 7170 in Spain??
Hay alguien que usa la 7170 en España??
Sonst noch jemand der erfolgreich die 7170 in Spanien benutzt??
thx

Hi Isidar,
1. Switching to Annex A and back to B worked fine with Haveaniceday's fritz_as_avm_annex_a_kernel_args.tar and fritz_del_annex_a_kernel_args.tar
(see the head of the "Annex A 7170,7140, xx70,5010,5012" thread) and FW version .02 (the one that was originally installed in my 7170). The Annex-B FBF has a beautiful tuner, indeed!
2. Printer: I have a Canon MPC190 combo and, according to the AVM's support, the FW .06 should support the combo's, while the older versions did not. That was the reason for me to upgrade. But after the upgrade, the printer still failed to be recognized AND the patches to switch to Annex A failed, either!
3. FBF refuses to downgrade the FW as is. It took me a night to find a solution and I still have an impression that it worked kind of "by chance".
In brief, I used the "downgrade2.tar" to block the anti-downgrade logic and then load the .01 FW available from www.zdnet.de. In both cases, the GUI issued very frightening error messages which one has to ignore. The problem in my case was that after giving the error messages, the FBF was cutting the connection until next cold restart. I only succeeded by doing a factory reset before downgrading and having a double connection: to the FBF via Ethernet cable and by wireless via my old router.
May be it was just by chance, but it worked. Needless to say that after these manipulations I lost a possibility to recover the newest FW: the AVM recovery.exe now just fails complaining about "version sorting".
4. The original recovery.exe from the CD-ROM did not work from the very beginning, as it was intended for 7140, not for 7170. AVM should be ashamed for that!
The bottom line: never touch the working software, even if you miss some features...
I have not tested the VoIP yet....
