I'm using
FritzBox Fon WLAN (the simple one with one LAN and 2 phone jacks).
Bought in Germany and used there with Arcor DSL before.
Now I moved to
Oxford, UK using
TWANG broadband over a
BT analogue phone line.
Before visiting this form, I tried my luck simply by changing
username / password to what they sent me, but not surprisingly I had no connection to DSL as the box was on Annex B.
1) First of all, I have brought the
firmware up-to-date using the AVM website (was 08.03.67, is now
08.04.15).
2) Then I have run the script
http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/attachment.php?attachmentid=6388&d=1139740154 (see details in posting
http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=68979).
Finally, a statement to the
cabling which I found a bit confusing :noidea: in the various postings. According to AVM, the DSL line runs over the center pins (3&4) of the 6-pin RJ45 jack. Standard DSL filters in the UK provide 4-pin RJ11 jacks, with the line running over the center pins.
3) I have
simply connected Fritzbox with a standard 4-pin RJ11 cable, ie plugged the 4-pin RJ11 plug into the 6-pin RJ45 jack. Thanks to the physics of the plug, it is centered and the signal is supplied to pins 3&4.
Done. After rebooting the box, the box connected to the internet, then to my VoIP accounts, with no further intervention. As simple as that.
