Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

Am I right?
Is such a cable easy to buy or should I make it by myself?
Yes, you are right, you effectively need only those two pins (4+5 to 3+6). The order does not matter: (4+5 to 6+3) works equally.
Such a cable is not easy to buy, it is not standard. You should crimp it by yourself.

Yeah, it works. Only one question. Where I use my cell phone to check fixed line phone attached to fixed line rings after three tones in cell phone when fixed line phone is connected to FB. When phone is connected directly to fixed line there is no delay in ringing. Is it normal or I have something wrong configured?

I have checked this once again. When I call from my cell phone to fixed line connected by FB diode Festnetz is on with some seconds delay. When I finish my cell phone call, fixed phone call rings for some time (Festnetz diode is on). I did everything as here: http://www.avm.de/en/service/manuals/FRITZBox/Manual_FRITZBox_Fon_WLAN_7170.pdf
i.e. put only my fixed line number (in format 00**##$$$$$$$ - ** - country code, ## - city code, $$$$$$$ - proper number) in Telephony devices -> Fixed-line network.

Any ideas what can be wrong with my FB and how to fix it?

Annex A to B?

Hallo,
I have a very unusual question here: I bought a AVM Fritz!box Fon Wlan device from ebay.at by mistake, because it is Annex A. I have tried to set it Annex A by: "quote SETENV annex,B" , but after it I can not make Annex B recovery as it quit by "uncompaible device".
So my question: is it possible to change Annex A to B or not?

Best regargs, Tibor from Hungary (Annex B)

Hi Tibor,
it is always possible. What model, what firmware, what language do you have?

Hi Telefonicus,

My model is: Fritz!Box Fon WLAN (Annex A)
Firmware upgraded to: FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN.AnnexA.en.08.04.49.image
Language: originally german, modificated to english

When I change it to Annex B in ftp, it confirms that, but no success to recover by the "fritz.box_fon_wlan.en.04.49.recover-image.exe".

To successfully load the english AnnexB FW to an AnnexA box, you must change the following parameters:
- change "annex" from "A" to "B"
- change "HWRevision" from "66" to "61"
- parameter "firmware_version" must be "avme"

In order to change these parameters permanently, you must first downgrade to a FW version older than 08.04.15, otherwise the parameters are overwritten at every reboot of the box.

The procedure is a little complicated, but it is well described here in the forum.

Thanks for your info. I found somethings about it, but it sounds for me chinese... It's really complicated, because my Telnet knowladge is very little.

Annex A FritzBox Products

Hi Everyone

Thank you for the great thread, it has helped many of my clients to get their German Annex B boxes working in South Africa.

I came accross the FritzBox while looking for a decent ADSL router and VoIP Server. My business has subsequintly signed import and distribution rights for the product in South Africa with AVM directly.

This should make most South African Fritz users very happy as we now finally have a international quality product in South Africa.

Should anybody have queries regarding the products available visit www.fritzbox.co.za

7270 from 1&1

Hello to everyone. I just get a 7270 with 1&1 brand (FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 (UI))and I wonder how should I proceed to convert it in annex A. My Firmware-Version is 54.04.57 and whatever other image I try to update, the returned answer is that the file is to big. I've tried to make the change in the software by uploading the fritz_als_avme_annex_A_new.tar (in compressed form) but no success.:(
Please give me a hint if somebody has faced the same situation as mine. Thanks.

FIRST of all you must check if you got a 16 mb chip (and NOT only 8 mb). With 8 mb there is no way to switch to avme = inteernational fw that starts with "fw 04.67-en-de-es-it" and needs more than 8 mb.

Ok. Thanks. How do I suppose to check if I have a 8 or 16 Mb box?

You have to get the Exportt-Data-File out of your box by saving the file the following link will say you to do.

http://192.168.178.1/cgi-bin/webcm?getpage=..%2Fhtml%2Fde%2Fmenus%2Fmenu2.html&errorpage=..%2Fhtml%2Fde%2Fmenus%2Fmenu2.html&var%3Alang=de&var%3Apagename=imexport&var%3Aerrorpagename=imexport&var%3Amenu=system&var%3Apagemaster=&time%3Asettings%2Ftime=1197885669%2C-60&security%3Asettings%2Fpassword=

Then you have to open the file and then there will be a line like this:
CONFIG_INSTALL_TYPE=ar7_8MB_xilinx_4eth_3ab_isdn_nt_te_pots_wlan_usb_host_25762
The highlighted size is the size of your chip in the box.

Thanks. Is 16 MB. The line is sounds like:

CONFIG_INSTALL_TYPE=ur8_16MB_xilinx_4eth_2ab_isdn_nt_te_pots_wlan_usb_host_dect_61056
OEM=1und1

Do you have any other clue? Thank you.

The software you suggest it was tried by me to be uploaded previously and I get the well known answer: the file is to big.
Do you have any other idea? Thanks.

Help

I resume my problem with my 7270 1&1 branded:
- it has 16 MB ram
- it is loaded with the firmware 54.04.57
- is not accepting any update of the firmware. Any attempt is returning the message: the file is too big

Dose anybody face this problem? Has anybody any idea how to overpass this stage and to be able to upload an international version of firmware?

Thanks.

Debranding (my advice: use "fritz_as_avm_newer.tar" from [POST=971638]this Post[/POST] - upload it like any FW, don't unpack) should resolve the first obstacle on your way to Annex-A-International FW.

Is anybody who can help me with this issue? I have checked all possibilities with configuration, I could imagine and it had no effect. I add only that my line is analog line, maybe this is reason for delays. I will appreciate any explanation of this behaviour.

Did it. Nothing change. Still the same answer: the file is to big.
Any other hint?

Thank you.
