Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

... Is there a way to set it to Hungary ...
Go to "Telefonie" / "Intenettelefonie" / "Erweiterte Einstellungen" (at the top) / - there you will see "Standortangaben". Select "Anderes Land" and type in the desired country code.
.

If you connect a FB via LAN1 without adapting the configuration (i.e. still at the configuration for DSL), effectively you can access the Internet. But this access is via the first router (in your case the first 7170). Your second 7170 is simply "not present" - it has absolutely no function, it only transfers the signal. That's also the reason, why you can't access the web interface of the second 7170.

Thus, if you want to test "Internet via LAN" with your 7170 serial number 228.00.038.929, you must first enter the web interface and configure the 7170 as "Internet via LAN 1".
.

I did a test on it: 1st 7170 connect to DSL, 2nd 7170 connect to PC via LAN3, 2nd 7170 connect to 1st 7170 via LAN1.

I had following setting on the 2nd 7170(see the picture):
- Internetzugang über LAN 1
- Vorhandene Internetverbindung im Netzwerk mitbenutzen (IP-Client)
- IP-Adresse manuell festlegenIP-Adresse (192.168.178.100)

I set PC with fixed IP
IP: 192.168.178.2
Gateway: 192.168.178.1

Then I can access 2nd 7170 with IP address 192.168.178.100, and the 1st 7170 with IP address 192.168.178.1. The PC can access the internet. Does it mean the "LAN1" works on my box?

Another test with same hardware setting as above, but use the following setting in the 2nd 7170 (see picture):

- Internetzugang über LAN 1
- Internetverbindung selbst aufbauen (NAT-Router mit PPPoE oder IP)
- Zugangsdaten werden nicht benötigt (IP)
- IP-Adresse manuell festlegenIP-Adresse (192.168.178.100)

The PC still have access to the internet. But the IP 192.168.178.1 can only reach the 2nd 7170, surprising to me.

You did mostly right!
- Connection of FBs and PC is correct
- Configuration is (nearly) correct
- Access to the FBs is correct
You should know, that setting the 2nd as "Vorhandene Internetverbindung im Netzwerk mitbenutzen (IP-Client)" is correct and is important, because with this the DHCP-server is inactivated. Otherwise you would have 2 DHCP-Server in the same web, which would cause problems.

Your mistake lays in the manual setting of IP-Address at the 2nd FB.
I recommend to set this option to "automatic IP via DHCP". This should work.

If you prefer to set IP manually, use the following parameters:
- IP-Adresse = 192.168.178.100
- Subnetz-Maske = 255.255.255.0
- Standard-Gateway = 192.168.178.1
- Primärer DNS-Server = 192.168.178.1
- Sekundärer DNS-Server = ---.---.---.--- (don't type any address)

I believe your mistake was in the line written in bold. Try it!
.
Edit:
Now I have seen your 2nd trial. It is wrong, because of "Internetverbindung selbst aufbauen (NAT-Router mit PPPoE oder IP)". That means two DHCP-servers in the same privat web, which will not work (see above)!

Thank you for the explanation.
The point is that in both cases the PC can access the internet. It seems that the Box works with "LAN1" although its serial number is in the "forbidden" range.

Can someone help me.

I have 2 Fritz!box 7050 both connected to the same internet modem (cable)
The thirst one is working perfectly.
The second one is working for 1 till 10min.
Only incomming ringing is falling of.

It has to do with nat, I think.

So maybe the solution is to change port 5060 in de the second fritzbox to port 5061

How can i do that?

I'm an newby.

Thanks in advanced.
Harry

Welcome to the forum, Harry!

We need more details!
How are the two FBs connected to the cable modem:
a) parallel via switch (you have 2 IP adresses assigned) ?
b) serially, with the 2nd FB connected via LAN to the 1st ?

What do you need 2 FBs for ?
What are the IP addresses of your private net ?

And there are more questions ...
Explain your configuration with details!
.

I connect the second fb serially via the 1st FB lan.

The first FB has ip 192.168.178.1
The second one has 192.168.178.2
Both has the same DNS:
192.168.180.1
192.168.180.2

The second one has gateway 192.168.178.1

I need them for house and office (in 1 building) with the same 24mbit internet line.

Tnx

7170 German version F convert>>>> English A

At this juncture, Can someone please summarise or give a step by step info on how to convert a 7170 German version F to English annex A: Take my below request for example:

I live in Holland, using analogue/Annex A DSL.

Before I make fatal mistake. I've just bought a German version of 7170 (artikel nr. 2000.2333 edition F).

I will like to change it to English as I live in Holland, thus need Annex A.

Could you plssss help me in simple steps on how to do this. The whole of articles are confusing. Will the FON 1-3 interface of this box still work after convertion to ENGLISH ANNEX A?

Is there any other problem I may encounter flashing this box to English Annex A.

Thanks very much for your help

Thx

Hello!

Could someone please tell me what is the easiest way (I am quite an amateur...) to connect my analoge tel line to the Fritz!Box (Annex B.) DSL/Tel port?

Modificating the firmware?
Or modificating the supplied Y cable? (It seems easier to me)

The DSL modem function is not important, (since I have LAN net) but I would like to use my landline tel with the Box.

Thank You very much inadvance!

Gabor

... since I have LAN net ...
If you have LAN net, it is very easy: just configure your FB as "Internet via LAN 1" and it will work.

You need a firmware newer than xx.04.15 (see www.avm.de)
Which model do you have? The FB Fon classic, no WLAN? Then I suggest the newest firmware 06.04.33.
Do the following:
- select "Erweiterte Einstellungen" / "Internet" / "Zugangsdaten"
- click on "Internetzugang über LAN"
- click on "Internetverbindung selbst aufbauen (NAT-Router mit PPPoE oder IP)"
- select "Zugangsdaten werden benötigt (PPPoE)"
- Type in Internet provider, username and password
- click on "Internetverbindung dauerhaft halten"

In this configuration, your FB is no more accesible via LAN, only via USB (if you have FB Fon classic). If you have a WLAN Box, it is accesible via WLAN, too.

Connect your analogue phone to the FB and start calling ...

-------------------------------

Edit: Avoid having two DHCP servers in your LAN net! If you have an other DHCP Router installed, inactivate the DHCP of the FB

Edit2: If you use cable modem, the FB Fon classic will not work. In that case you will need an other FB type.

Thank You for Your quick reply!

I have the following model:

FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170, Firmware-Version 29.04.40

Actualy the LAN net is working fine (I had the same LAN settings as You gave.), I have problems with the analoge tel line.

I can only connect my FB to the analoge tel system with a normal telephone RJ11-RJ11 cable and not with the supplied Y cable. Should it work? I think not. Or?

(Because right now it does not...)

... Actualy the LAN net is working fine ...
In that case you have a very confortable FB. Congratulation!

To connect the FB to the analogue phone line you should crimp a special cable. Neither a normal LAN cable nor a normal phone cable will do the job. And the FB Y-cable has the wrong connector (RJ45 both sides; must be RJ11 at the phone side).

You only need to connect 2 pins:
- At the FB side (RJ45) these are pins 3 and 6. Explanation: I am counting from 1 to 8, thus the inner pins are 4 and 5. Pins 3 and 6 are the two neighbors to the inner pins.
- At the phone line side (RJ11) these are pins 4 and 5 (the two inner ones)

Ready! Connect your analogue phone to the FB7170 and it should work!

-------------------------------

Edit: I suggest to upload the most recent official Firmware, which is 29.04.59. Your version 29.04.40 is very old and is missing some interesting features.

Well thank You! I made a cable according Your description and it works fine!

Thank You for the tipp as well, I will do the upgrade.

Have a nice day!

I made a cable according Your description and it works fine!
That's great!

Yesterday avm published a new firmware version 54.04.67 for FB7270.
Probably the new firmware for FB7170 (29.04.67) will come very soon.

One more comment to avoid mistakes in other users:
The cable according to my description works only for newer FBs with Y-cable (7141, 7140, 7170, 7270 etc.)
For older FBs the pins to connect are 1+8, not 3+6 ! (pins 4+5 at the phone line side do not change).

Fon 1-3

I have my 7170 running fine after patching to English and also annex B >>> A

But I still wonder how I can get more than one phones working on the Fon 1-3. I can only use one analogue phone on it presently. I tried the 3 phones adapter but it doesnt work at all.

I've a BLACK official GERMAN 7170. Thus, Annex B.

thx

... But I still wonder how I can get more than one phones working on the Fon 1-3 ...
Your FB7170 is V1 - the older version. No matter if red or black. The annex has no influence on the phone.

The original 3 phone avm adapter should work with 3 analogue phones. But it asks for german connectors - that may be the problem.

The solution is easy: Crimp your own adapter! You need a cable with at least 6 wires, 2 for each phone. The "Fon 1-3" connector at the FB has 6 pins. Let's them call 1, 2, ..., 6.
I am not sure about the right connections. Most probably, one phone will be pins 3+4 (the inner ones). This is standard convention.
The other two phone could be pins 2+5 and 1+6. But I'm not sure. They could be 1+2 and 5+6, too.

Measure how the pins are connected in the original avm adapter - then you will know safely.

Good luck!

Fon 1-3

Many thanks for ur help el_valiente, you geared me up to think logically and this is what I have done for others who might have the BLACK BOX annex B (I guess also valid for Annex A) and want to use Analogue (voip) fon 1-3:

I went to shop and buy the 3 plugs (TAE/RJ-45ADAPTER SET) to be plugged on the already supplied RJ-12/TAE-ADAPTER ((3 inlet) socket).

I placed the wire on each of the 3 plugs on row 1 & 2 (from under) of the 3 (possibility).

The other end of the wire I placed on position 3&4 (standard for each analogue phones) of the phone plugs.

If u can solder then u can use a socket like I did, so that I can plug in cable from the phone anytime.

Now I can use 3 phones (Analogue)
