Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

Is possible to use the tool for a fritz 7050, converting to German to english and Annex A?

No, it is not possible with the tool, because an english version with the newer kernel does not exist.

So I should use the old way to convert the 7050, changing the bootloader?

That depends on the firmware version you have on your box. Will you keep that as a secret?

Hi,

some years ago, I converted a German 7270 v3 to International edition. I don't remember very well, but I think I used ruKernelTool. The last firmware I have setup is 74.05.23. The problem is my fritz.box is unstable, sometimes reboots or freezes after somes days running. I just want to come back German version, forget ADSL-modem function and use as VoIP-WiFi gateway. Can I flash a German image now?

Grüße!

Yes, but you will need to use the ruKernetTool method again.

Sure you can. You can even flash the current german version 74.05.50 with annex A, by using the ruKernelTool, because this firmware is a multi-annex version.

I have some problems to get ADAM2-IP address in ruKernelTool. I have read the solutions but it doesn't work. Can I use the Fritz.box web interface to update the firmware (74.05.50 german)?

No, unfortunately you can't.

Help please

I have couple FritzBOX fon 7050 from 1&1 and I can not put English firmware in them. I can upgrade them fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.14.04.33.image german firmware but when I try to put fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.annexa.en.14.04.26.image it does not work it reboots continiusly. I tried with firmware uploader v1.6.0.9 and also with ftp commands and recovery fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.annexa.en.04.26.recover-image.exe from page 9 of this thread but nothing works. When I try with recovery it says something error checking mtd1 win error 4. Please help i have 4 of this babies and I want to put them to work.

You need to change the boxes' branding before you can flash the English firmware.

Simply download this file and upload it as it is (do not decompress it) to your boxes like an firmware update which will result in an error message. Then reboot your box and try again to flash the boxes using the recovery tool.

Alternatively you can execute the following command by Telnet which will do the same like the linked file:
echo firmware_version avme > /proc/avalanche/env

Unfortunately it is not as easy as "inquisitor" believes. At version 04.30 AVM changed the Linux kernel of all boxes from 2.4 to 2.6 and consequently also changed the partitioning of the flash memory - there's your real problem. If the boxes run on fw lower than 04.30 your error was upgrading them to 04.33!
So, first of all you will have to downgrade again to kernel 2.4 > fw (German) lower than 04.30. There is a thread in this forum about this rather DIFFICULT and RISKY procedure. Only after you arrived at this starting point you can do the changes to english fw 04.26 including annex a - consisting of several consecutive steps.

Thank you for your answers.
Another thing, I bought 7240 the other day and wanted to connect it instead of my 7170. After couple of hours of programming the fritzbox 7240 i noticed that it does not support fixed line. Is that true? No english firmware for it and no fixed line option in settings. Is there a way to connect it or can I use some other fritz for fxo gateway. I have couple of 7113, 7050, 7170 and FritzBox fon Wlan the old version. So if there is no option to connect fixed line to this fritz is there a way to program some custom firmware to other fritz to act like FXO gateway.

P.S. Sory if I am boring with questions. I like fritz a lot. In fact I have over 20 of them located in my family and friens just to call each other. I even have my own IP PBX with extensins like their phone numbers so fritz is firslty trying to connect via ip and then via fixed line if PBX or internet connection are down. It helped me a lot to cut phone bills.

7240 DEFINITELY canNOT connect to a standard land line - only VoIP - and -even more complicating its use in GB- there is no fw available that contains annex a drivers - to get it work in annex a networks you will have to "implant" an annex a driver from a 7270 fw that contains this driver (i.e all 7270 v3 fw contain annex a drivers)
7050: You are now aware of the problem
7113 and 7170: for these boxes there are ENGLISH firmwares available on AVM's ftp server - they include automatically annex a drivers for modem use in GB. You can rather easily flash these fw using "ruKernelTool".

I am aware of the problem. I would live with 7240 on german whitout fixed line if my provider vould kindly give me user name password ip addres of server and other data to log in. Instead I get cable modem with analog line out which I have to connect to my fritz. I called and wrote on their forum asking data to connect direcly via fritz to them instead via cisco cable modem but no answer. It is company policy not to give log in data for voip. For me it is stupid to connect voip modem via 10cm cable to voip router. It should be direcly in router avoiding D/A A/D conversion. Last option would be to buy some FXO gateway for my phone to use with FBF 7240 if if dont get any of my spare FBF to work as FXO gateway.

Your Cisco cable modem with analog line is not using SIP for VoIP, and does not connect to a SIP-Server. Therefore, even if you have login data, they would be useless for a SIP-client like the fritzbox.
