If you'r sure it's a v3 simply upload [post=971638]"fritz_as_annex_a_kernel_args_newer.tar"[/post] like a firmware update. Disregard any error message. That's all!
FB needs a password to enter the menu - if not it will only upload original AVM files.
I converted my 7140 to English Annex A a while ago. It worked fine but I noticed that it still has variable ANNEX set to B and HWRevision to 95. I tried to change them but they return after each reboot. Is there're a way to change them forever?
My next concern is around physical connections - the DSL port in standard Australian modems is RJ11, but looks like Fritz!box uses RJ45 in this pic . I understand there is a Y-Cable that comes in the box, but not sure how I can use this as presume it's all RJ45. I may need another converter cable from somewhere else, or just plug RJ11 directly into the RJ45?
Depnding on Firmware it may mean something.
In newer type of firmware it is in most cases so that "kernel_args annex=A" is tho only entry that counts.
multi annex firmware should not have "kernel_args annex=A" set at all.
And some firmware don't work very well with Annex A if the binary driver is not replaced with a suitable Annex A driver at the same time.
after searching for a while i could not find any answers if anybody managed to successfully convert a 7270v3 (even 1&1) to international edition.
if anybody managed it, PLEASE let me know please. i do have one from 1&1 and i would like to change it to international edition.
As there is an international fw (05.04) as well as the recover-version 05.04. it should be no problem to do the change as it is described in the forum for the v2 - easiest way should be use of "ruKernelTool".
I've done that with 7270v2/v3 and the 7390 using ruKernelTool together with the corresponding international Firmware for 7270v2/v3 or 7390. To make it a little bit easier for you you could use this as a hint. But please keep in mind this is for a 7170! You have to use the corresponding settings for your 7270.
Use FTP as explained bei schlagerstar
The only command you need is "quote SETENV firmware_version avme"
Than run the recovery "english-annexB" without reboot, as desribed
Hi everyone. Im new here. Glad I found this site and thread, thanks in advance for your help. I followed the instructions and FTP'd into the 7390 and completed the
quote SETENV firmware_version avme. After that is where I got lost with "run the recovery "english-annexB" without reboot. I assumed that meant in the web interface but while I was in FTP the web interface was not active. At that point I rebooted the box and it appeared to restart a few times and finally came back with no config. I restored it with my backup. So will someone explain where I am going wrong? Are there and detailed instructions to do this? This thread is great but very fragmented and across many different fritzboxes.
use the ruKernelTool and flash the 7390-firmware you need. Here you will find How-Tos for a 7170 in 5 languages: >>click me<< The steps are the same for a 7390.

Thank you R@iner!
I didn't use the ruKernelTool but instead the FTP and restore executable method but I did download ruKernel just incase something tragic would have happened.
International Edition ---> German Edition --- Also possible?
Was just thinking about doing this whole thing the other direction: Turning my 7270 international Edition into a "real" german edition. do you think it could work?
its my last chance to get ip-telephony work right, because there are some different options concering the format auf the incoming numbers...
I live in Germany but want to change the language on my Fritzbox to English. I have read through the forum and I have downloaded the Kernal tool but before I flash the firmware with English I want to make sure that the router will still work in Germany. I am concerned about the annex a/b issues. I know that Germany uses Annex B but does the international firmware update support both Annexes? Will my Frtitzbox still work in Germany after I do the update?
