But, how to connect it, since win xp client that I am using to connect after I unpug the power on 7170 realizes eth connection down after 3-5 seconds and after it boots XP needs like 10 seconds to have eth connection up ?

It *does* work, believe me. As described in my other post, this sometimes helps:

Sometimes it can help to open ftp first by simply typing 'ftp' and then initiate the connection by typing 'open 192.168.178.1', followed by ENTER as soon as you unplug/plug in the Box. If connection fails, simply press ↑ (open 192.168.178.1 will reappear) and ENTER quickly, after 2 or 3 attempts you should be in.

I hope this is comprehensible ....

It seems it does work
I did not follow your directions 100%...now I do not know how it did not work at the beginning but...1st I used fixed IP addr 192.168.178.25 (after I switched do .2)....I do not know how this might work, but anyway..
Then to get this ftp working in time-frame of 3-5 seconds I disabled WLAN card, so I would get quicker LAN connection when powering on 7170..
I must say that I was attempted to disconnect power, after I realized that I changed env variable through quote SETENV..., since webserver did not respond...then I realized that recover image is .exe and that needs to run through winshell....
Recover program worked just fine, it 1st disabled MediaSense, reboot my computer and flashed ROM image...

I want you to inform, that my fritz! 7170 was converted from annex B to annex A by a hardware modification. Now it connect by a poor line to my dslam in 2 km distance very well. Firmware version 58.04.78, DSL 1.35.62.10. If you want some more info mail me

If you see the yellow box(some kind of capacitor i think) near the dsl filter,in annex B is small but in annex A is very big and has number 105J100. Maybe other changes was made but i didn't saw it.

changes was made by my fritz seller. All the operation cost me 20 euro with shipment cost.

Seems, your dealer did a good job, which is worth 20 EUR!
How was the spectrum before the HW mod, when using DSL driver 1.35.62.10? Did the 7170 synchronize at annex A?

It would be very interesting if you find out what changes have been done. They seem to be only minor. Probably such mod is possible in other box types, too.
Thus, you should create your own thread titled "HW modification for Annex A" or so. And then you should advise the HW specialist here in the forum - this seems to be very interesting!

Ok, I have read again your posts dated from november 22. Even with firm 58.04.78 (DSL 1.35.62.10) the 7170 wasn't able to synchronize at annex A.
Thus, the HW mod is a great improvement. Congratulations!

Kondensator wurde gewechselt auf 1uF =105 = 0.0000001 F

Ob das wirklich so eine Rolle spielt, ist eigentlich fraglich da ja bereits ein relativ großer Kondensator an der selben Stelle sitzt.
Aber man kann das ja einmal ausprobieren, der vorhandene Kondensator muss ja nicht einmal ausgelötet werden, zum Test kann an den selben Anschlüssen auf der Rückseite eine zweiter Kondensator dazu gelötet werden.


Any TV service technician would be able to change this Condenser, should be also a similar type to make sure the Condenser has the same high frequency characteristics.

I am surprised if this change relay make a difference, because at the same position there is already a rather big Capacitor.
Still one could see what happens if one changes this Part.
