that it automatically returned (without the "en") to previous name 29.04.67
The reason therefore is normally that you did not RECOVER
without allowing the box to reboot. Somehow the box made/makes a reboot (and thus returnis to its previous settings) BEFORE you start RECOVER with en.04.67-RECOVER-EXE.
Suggest the following: You downloaded and stored on your PC the correct RECOVER-EXE?
FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.AnnexB.en.04.67.recover-image.exe
If so, download also this recover-exe:
fritz.box_fon_5140.04.37.recover-image.exe This will be needed for what I called the "stony" way.
Prepare RECOVER as usual (fixed IP 192.168.178.6 for your PCs LAN card). Start RECOVER with "fritz.box_fon_5140.04.37.recover-image.exe" (no fear, won't do any harm to your box) Where you get the answer ""incompatible with this Box" press "Abbrechen".
Now go to "start - run " and type into that window "ftp 192.168.178.1" + ENTER
Your box's ftp servers window will open on this. Type there
adam 2 (user name) adam2 (password)
quote SETENV firmware_info en.29.04.67
and just to make sure again:
quote SETENV firmware_version avme
On both commands you should get back "command successful"
Leave that window open, DO NOT REBOOT OR TAKE THE BOX OFF POWER and start RECOVERY again - this time using
"FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.AnnexB.en.04.67.recover-image.exe"
DO NOT POWER OFF THE BOX -even if recover procedure is asking you to do so!!
The problem is created by the conflict between the "firmware_version = avme" and the "firmware_info = 29.04.67" - this latter one being the GERMAN B-Firmware.
