Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

@el_valiente
I have done it
However
I do not find
Für 300 Mbit/s optimierte Funkkanäle nutzen
But anyway, the answer on the laptop is "Server not accessible" (imposible tomar contact)
I still consider that it is strange, it has worked yesterday without all those changes !

@olnejean:
Now I'm almost sick of this topic!
To be sure about what I said, I installed the same network as you have at my home.
Ok, the router is not Barricade, but Digitus. And the FB is not 3270, but 7140.
But this should make no difference!

The result of my experiment is: Everything works fine with the settings exactly as I told you! I have access to Internet with two independent PCs (i have only two) via LAN and via WLAN. And there is no conflict between the PCs at all.

It seems that if you exactly follow my instructions, your network will finally work.
.

@olnejean:
Yeah, it is strange!
After all these trials we must take into account that the WLAN card at your laptop may have some hardware problem.
I considered that very little probable, but now, with an exact copy of your network running here at my home, and with that strange behavior at your home, we must accept that it could be.
Can you organize another PC with WLAN option or a WLAN USB stick to test the WLAN functionality with another device than your laptop (which may have a hardware problem)?
.

Good news for all of us: we are heading towards a quite week-end !
I found that the WLAN card did not answer. I took the whole contraption to my supplier; I should have it back by the end of next week.
So, in the mean time "Abwarten und Tee trinken", just to use once in a while the basic language of the forum!

@olnejean

That means, it was really bad luck! The hardware fails seldom!
Hopefully, you will have no more problems next week. Let us know!
By the way, you learned a lot about network configuration ...
.

I just gave the laptop away, complaining that the WLAN card was out (it is still under guarantee).
I shall see if they find something (hopefully, otherwise the mad samba will go one until the solution is unearthed !).
"you learned a lot about network configuration ..."
Certainly, and I am most grateful for the help you and imago_mundi gave me with a very friendly patience. It gave me also an opportunity to get a little rust off my poor Spanish !
The problem with my new knowledge is that I most certainly shall not have to use it soon ... and it will fade away!

Latest news: the laptop has been checked and no fault has been found.
I had disconnected the WLAN programme...
So I have tried again, and I am still with a perfect contact to the WLAN signal from the FRITZ+Box, but apparently the FB does not connect to DSL.
Before going any further, I propose to format my laptop, which is rather empty, and to start again with totally fresh programmes.

@olnejean:

If I understand well, the WLAN (or WiFi) now works. Can you access (and change) all options of the FB menue via WLAN? If so, the WLAN connection is ok.
I repeat my opinion: If you have Internet access with a PC connected to the FB via LAN (by cable), you must equally have Internet access with a PC connected to the FB via WLAN (wireless).
Hopefully you will have a good working network, soon.
.

¡Hola el_valiente!
I am afraid the situation is not so rosy. WLAN shows, the laptop indicates "connected", but I get no access to internet.
I just tried to access the FP programme using the http://192.168.2.69/ address, but without success... The answer was, as usual, "Connection failed".

@olnejean:

You have no access to Internet, because you have no access to the FB!

Check the IP-Address (TCP-IP configuration) of your notebook. It must be:
a) either automatically assigned by the Barricade - should be between 192.168.2.70 and 192.168.2.79
b) or manually assigned by you. It could be any IP starting with "192.168.2.", but not 192.168.2.69 (the FB) nor 192.168.2.70-79 (the IP-pool of the Barricade) nor 192.168.2.1 (the IP of the Barricade itself)

With the correct TCP-IP configuration it must be possible to connect to the FB! Try it via http://192.168.2.69 and also via http://169.254.1.1, the security IP of the FB. You can go further only after having succesfully accessed the FB!
If the access via WLAN fails, try if you can access the FB via LAN.

Getting 7170 (1&1) to work with my fiber Optic LAN

@ dear Guru el_valiente:

I am back :D I have been quite busy for past month. I am still quite busy but i have a question for you now please:

I have got a Fritz!Box 7170. It is a black one from 1&1. Now i needed to know was that if i didnt want to change the German version on this Fritz!Box 7170 then how can i make it working?

Because with my previous Fritz!Box 7140 i was able to use my Internet LAN cable into LAN1 it worked even with the Annex B settings. However in this Fritz!Box 7170 FonS0 there is also a socket .

so how can i get rid of 1&1 settings so that it can work with my LAN connection. Do i need update the firmware where the current version on this Fritz!Box 7170 is "FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 (UI), Firmware-Version 29.04.29"?

Do i need to perform the following steps:

1. How can i De-brand for just German latest Firmware updates:
echo "firmware_version avm" > /proc/sys/urlader/environment

2. Can i also then just simply run the Recovery image file "FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.04.57.recover-image.exe" so that it can come back to the default 7170 German verion?

Please correct me if i am on the right track:confused: Because at the moment i just want to make this Fritz!Box 7170 just to work with the default German version and i am not bothered to change it to English verion yet.

3. Can you please kindly remind me how to log in as Adam2 ?

Any useful help will be highly appreciated!!

Things are much less complicated! You don't need to enter telnet nor adam2.
To debrand your new 1&1 FB7170 just load the file [post=971638]"fritz_as_avm_newer.tar"[/post] as a new firmware, using the usual update option at the FB menue. Ignore any error message.
This user friendly option is possible thanks to telefonicus, who wrote the pseudo-firmware.

Because at the moment i just want to make this Fritz!Box 7170 just to work with the default German version and i am not bothered to change it to English version yet.
You don't need any recovery! Presently you have german FW version 29.04.29, Annex B. With the FB7170 debranded, simply download the newest FW version, which presently is 29.04.59, from the avm website (www-dot-avm-dot-de). Load this file into the 7170, using the usual update option at the FB menue. Done!
The FW 29.04.59 allows to use the FB7170 with optic fibre cable connected to LAN1, as you know it from your 7140. You don't have to change the Annex, because the internal modem is inactivated, when using the modus "Internet access via LAN1".

However in this Fritz!Box 7170 FonS0 there is also a socket
The 7170 has 4 LAN sockets LAN1-4, exactly as the 7140 has. The additional Fon-S0 Socket at the 7170 serves to connect one or more ISDN-phones. If you use analogue phones only, it is of no use for you.

Getting 7170 (1&1) to work with my fiber Optic LAN

@ Guru el_valiente:

Glad to hear from you again :)

I have updated the Fritz!Box 7170 with the script that you suggested. Now what am getting is that when i plug in the internet LAN cable into the socket LAN1 then i am getting on internet but it gives me the direct IP address of my firbre optic line. It is not in fact giving me the IP allocated by the Fritz!Box.
Is there any setting that i have to change within the Fritz!Box 7170? However I get the Fritz!Box IP address when i do not plug in the Internet LAN cable into LAN1 socket :rolleyes:
Any suggestions please :confused:

Hello el_valiente
End of the topic ...
The FRITZ+Box works beautifully!
The label underneath the FB has created an incredible confusion: I did use the "Seriennummer" instead of the "Netzwerkeschlüssel" ...
They have nearly the same number of digits, and I had the laptop (apparently) connected with the wrong number...
The serial number begins with W242. When I typed the whole code for the first time, the system requested one more sign, so I decided that "W" was in fact "V V", and it was accepted. So I kept using it instead of the real thing.
Sorry to have wasted your time !
And al sorts of thanks for your patience, as well as for the several useful titbits I learned over these nearly four weeks !
¡Con un abrazo de tu amigo belga. Esta tarde beberé una grande copa de cava a tu salud¡

Configuration of the FB:
- Internet
- Zugangsdaten
- Internetzugang über LAN 1
- Internetverbindung selbst aufbauen (NAT-Router mit PPPoE oder IP)
- Zugangsdaten werden nicht benötigt (IP)
- IP-Adresse automatisch über DHCP beziehen

Eventually I am wrong and the correct configuration is:
- Internet
- Zugangsdaten
- Internetzugang über LAN 1
- Internetverbindung selbst aufbauen (NAT-Router mit PPPoE oder IP)
- Zugangsdaten werden benötigt (PPPoE)
- Select your Internet provider (probably "anderer Internetanbieter")
- Type in: Benutzername / Kennwort (user name / password)

One of the two options should work. Refer to the configuration you had with the FB7140.

Just for your info.
As soon as the WLAN worked, I tried to go back to the initial settings (Funkkanal at "Auto", Modus 802.11n+g+b).
It did not work any more.
So I am keeping your settings, they work beautifully!
¡Y he brindado con cava por tu salud!!!

... So I am keeping your settings, they work beautifully!
Thanks for the info. Some times it is only minor modifications which make things working ...

Yo no tenía cava ayer. Pero me hubiese gustado brindar contigo. Después de tanto lío nos lo merecíamos ...

Just to be sure: Now you have the Barricade working as a NAT-router with the DHCP server activated and the FB3270 connected as a client (DHCP inactivated)? You do have full Internet access via WLAN? And you do have 6 free LAN sockets (3 at the Barricade and 3 at the FB) where you can connect your PCs? No need of additional switch / hub?
That seemed to be the configuration you wanted ...
