Hello, the final kernel.image for the W501v must not exeed a size of 4 MB, otherwise it will not fit into the flash-memory. If the AVM firmware is already bigger than 4 MB (in your case app. 7 MB with FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7140.AnnexA.en.39.04.67, it will not fit.
The predefined options for W501V could work, a combination of fw_Speedport_W501V_v_28.04.38.image and fritz.box_fon_wlan_7140.annexa.39.04.43.image fits into memory, but only if you use german as firmware language. If you use english instead, it looks like the FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7140.AnnexA.en.39.04.67.image will be used, regardless of the setting for the 2nd AVM Firmware. As mentioned before, this firmware image is to big.
I'm not quite sure of the branding. The 7140.annexa.39.04.43 does not seems to be a "multiannex-firmware", so the predefined branding "avm" should be the right one. Otherwise, it has to be "avme".
So, there is only one option to change: The predefined Annex (B) ---> has to be changed to Annex A.

Edit: Perhaps it is a bug in the script, normally, if you choose a 2nd AVM firmware manually, only this image wil be loaded. But in this case, if the english language has been set, it loads the firmware from the 2nd AVM firmware menu and the FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7140.AnnexA.en.39.04.67.image. Then, this image is used for building the final kernel.image. So, it seems not to be possible to set another firmware version when the english language is selected.
