Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

Mentioning the "well known internet market place" is not allowed in this forum. I bought a 7240 for the only purpose to see if it is possible to get it flashed and working with a 7270 fw. Until now I did not succeed. Same result as you : permanent reboots.

If you happen to understand Italian you should look here. If not try Google Translate

Be careful with the translated text as Google not only translates the description but also the data. Always take data, instruction codes, addresses etc. from the original page!

@imagomundi: Forbidding mentioning the marketplace is stupid, sorry. It's just become part of today's lifestyle.

Sorry for me mentioning Google (upps, I forgot: this forum has kind of a partnership with them ;-) ).

Rules do not necessarily express my personal opinion! Dear telefonicus: noting that you wrote 2 comments one after the other within short time: you also know the rule concerning this - especially experienced users like you who give such a lot of good contributions to this forum as you did and do should give good examples to rather newcomers.

Wayne meanwhile had a direct contact to a seller from Italy who is offering a 7240 with the 7270's fw. He says he flashed the 7240 with a modified fw for the 7270 - and did that mod according to the "conversion" of a 7141 into a 7170 which is described in [THREAD=184404] this Thread [/THREAD].

Our FREETZ friends have meanwhile "adopted" this procedure as a 7141 ALIEN fw in the 7170's FREETZ menu config options. They had the intention to do the same with the fw of the 7240 and the 7270 but they surely did not have the time yet to realize this.

Hi.:) I have fritzbox 7050 AVM with german software, annex B, older firmware .14, I think. I changed it to annex A according to first post of this thread. I want to update to latest german firmware, .33 I think. What is the correct procedure? Can I update it with german firmware, and change it to Annex A (using files from this post) or I have to change it to annex B, then update it, and change it back to annex A?

Annex changes normally survive factory resets and firmware upgrades. So you should simply upload fw 04.33 - 7050 as one of the eldest boxes sometimes makes problems - but normally it should not. If your current firmware is really VERY old you might do the long jump from that one to 04.33 in two steps. From fw 04.14 this would mean - my personal recommendation- to upgrade first to 04.26. In no case it should be necessary do switch back to Annex B first.

Thank you very much.:)
But where can I find 04.26 firmware?

@telefonicus: Seine Box ist DEUTSCH, s. #1005.

Inoffiziell hab ich da mal was gefreetzt... ;-)

@garson: What's your actual firmware? For an English 14.04.33 send me a PM.

I can not check right now, I am away from home for few days. But I am sure it is older version, maybe 14.04.14.
Why is my actual version relevant? I just want to update to latest german, because procedure for changing to english is bit complicted, and I am fine with german.
@telefonicus:
I can update with .33 english even I have german avm fritzbox?

Yes you can

I've just checked, my 7050 has 14.04.04 firmware.

It's too long to do one step from 04. to .33. I remember at least one similar case. He finally got a fw in between from AVM.
I would suggest to try first to upgrade to 04.26. There is a German and an English original fw 04.26. So if you wish to remain at 04.26 it is rather easy to switch at this point to English menue.

If you wish to accept Telefonicus' offer you might go straight on from German 04.26 to German 04.33 and from that point with Telefonicus' assistance switch the interface language to English.

What are possible problems if I go directly from 04 to 33?
But where can I find german 04.26?
Telefonicus gave mi link to german 04.33 with english interface.:) So, corect me if I'm wrong, I should update with official german 04.26, and then to german 04.33 with english interface?

But where can I find german 04.26?

4 possibilities:

- ask AVM
- ask in [POST=653345]this[/POST] Post
- ask user "Feuer-Fritz" (he's got a good collection of many FW)
- wait until I'm at home - maybe I got it in my collection

I don't like first option.:p
Something is wrong with this link (second option).
I can wait, no problem. Is it going to be soon?:)
Thanks for yor help.

Why not update directly to 14.04.33? I don't see the point in a two-stage job.
