6.52 released

Only recently the 6.52 version for the International version has been released.
I'm very eager to implement this version on some of the routers I'm managing because it solves a long outstanding bug of the DHCP-server that wasn't recycling its IP-adresses.

Some Fritzbox owners use it for their restaurant or bar and soon these boxes become sluggish and stop giving out new IP's.

Only the 7490 has this update for now and all of them are using the 7390.
They probably need to wait a bit longer then.

It says "experimental" in Freetz.
I believe the German version existed for a while already and I can only assume that it has been tested by many of you.

Is the International release as of yesterday a token that most major bugs have been squashed or should I stay away of it still?

Even the german version 113.06.51 is "experimental" in Freetz and there are many known problems, especially with packages including a GUI modification and with "remove patches".

How far the support for the new version is really usable/helpful, depends on the packages to include into a Freetz image and - at this time - any modification, which requires an own kernel ("replace kernel" setting), can't be used - the published source files are not complete and you will never get a running kernel (only with own changes to the kernel setup routines) while you're using them.

And beside these known problems, it's "the same procedure as every year" ... you should try it and report detected problems. There are not so many users of the international version and the volume of "modders" in general and the number of them, who are running "Freetz" on a 7490 device, is smaller again.

You may wait some more times (from month to quarter to year/s) ... but don't expect, the situation will change without your own involvement.

I know, I wrote this already in the past (more than once) ... but it's still true and the Freetz developers (I'm not a member there, but I'm trying to help them within my limitations) are trying to solve already known problems and not necessarily to find new unknown ones in freshly released firmware - the Freetz users are responsible to do this and if no one makes the first step/test, nothing will happen.

If a new AVM release is added to the trunk, it's usually completely untested and without the interaction with users this will not be changed by a "big bang".

Maybe I misunderstood your question completely ... but if it was the "heart of the matter", if anybody could/would test this in the near future for you, you probably know the answer already and without any idea, which packages you would need for your customizations, nobody can give you a really substantive response.

No, just wanted to get some "feel" which I now have.
I will be testing it on the one I have at home and gradually some more.
Of course I will be reporting.

I recently upgraded all the 7360's to 6.31 and the only thing I noticed on one of them was that the answering machine which was set to a specific number suddenly reacted to all numbers.
A bit embarrassing as these were different households. Nothing to do with Freetz.

I have about 10 7490 and they are all monitored.

I installed it on my own private 7490.
The interface looks refreshing, but that is probably just because it changed.
Anyhow, it looks good.

Zabbix didn't notice any failures, but I did not see in Zabbix that the firmware changed. I will check that now....

Too bad it's only for the 7490
All boxes with the problem of too many lame leases are 7390's.

Hopefully it will not take too long before the International community has it for that model.

Was there a time-difference on the German versions (7390 vs 7490)?
It might be some indication on how long I have to wait for that.
