You don't have to set up anything if you're really using freetz-linux from here
All servers (samba, ssh, ftp) are already configured and running.
Your VM should have an IP-address in the same range as you host as it is configured via DHCP.

Sorry flame, but this isn't really depending on freetz anymore. Services are up and running as described (in german) in corresponding thread for the vmware/virtualbox image. ssh/ftp/samba are the services running, colonia metioned username and password.
in my opinion thera are not enough linux-basics for now on your side. Please have a little look for them, they are really needed to build/use and modify freetz.
Btw: There is another way to flash the image without using windows. freetz contains a script named push_firmware in the subfolder tools.

I am really close... I transfered it to my pc!!!
Now i have to update using the fritz option update firmware?
And one more question I have selected the patch to remove all the telephon and isdn file as long as i wont be using them. however it said that it was experimental, do u have any problems with that?
If something goes wrong but after the process the router is working i will be able to convert it to the previous state by loading the stock firmware right?

We don't hav any problems with your image ;-)

Because when i made the image it gave me an warning, saying that i you replace "that" and "that" files may cause an unstable image...

I updated with the image I made.. But everything seems normal..
How do I connect to freetz? I see only the old functions.. It has red letter saying that the firmware is not from avm but nothing else... what I am missing?

I think it has something to do with the image I have made.. It is supposed that my custom image would update the avm firmware,right? It wasnt done.. I updated with the official firmware afterwards.. Then updated again with my image but still cant connect..
I am going to make the image again..

I dont understand what is going wrong..
I made an other image, updated with it but all the same.. Could connect..
Scaned fritzbox for open ports and there are only 80, 5060 and 8080..
There are no changes.. I removed the parental control and help(+some other stuff) but everything is still there. It is as if i never updated...
Although i get a message on the overview screen: "Changes not supported by manufacturer"

I wonder if there are issues with the "english only" packages, but I don't think so.

Do you have this additional menu point in your original UI (see picture)?

Do you have any funny settings on your browser set, that might prevent fom authentication?

You should see a popup asking for username & Password

Are you sure, you have flashed your fresh-built image to the box?

you can do that dirctly from your build environment

go to subfolder tools

enter

push_firmware ../tools/<your image name>.image "<the boot ip of the box>"

e.g: Knoppix@Knoppix:~/freetz-1.0/tools push_firmware kernel.image 192.168.178.1

I ask, because the usermand is running, but you have selected to opt it out in your config.

I select: Setting->System->Firmware Update->Firmware File
Then i select my image and push start update..
It says Updating the system please wait a moment.. Meanwhile the info led is flashing..
Then a message comes up saying: Attention!
The specified file does not contain firmware released for this device by AVM.
Cancel or continue update..
I select continue
The info led is flashing again.. With a new mesg.. Transmitting the firmware to your system.
Then i think it reboots as when the info stops flashing then is power led turn..
I lose connection and when it stops flashing its on and up.
Then i can normaly connect internet but no freetz stuff...
