Petition For English Fritzbox Support

Mr Smartass, WE (this thread is exactly for this purpose, can't you read?), know that there is available an international fritzbox, the reply which YOU gave is totally useless

We want english firmware for FritzBox Fon Wlan 7050 GERMAN EDITION. The firmware which you gave us is for the INTERNATIONAL EDITION.

I have to admit, that I can't understand your wish either.

You get english suport for the box either if you have or buy the international edition or if you turn your german edition into an international edition.

But english firmware for the german edition doesn't make sense to me.

of course an english firmware for 7050 would be beneficial. How hard can it be? If AVM dont have enough english speaking employees i am sure that a lot of us would volunteer to translate the firmware user messages.

PS: The german edition can't be easily turned into an international edition. Moreover, the german edition can't be updated using the international firmware.
So, I ask for an eglish firmware for my german edition.

I understood what you want, but I don't think it's very likely that AVM will release an english firmware for the german edititon. But who knows...

Anyway box still works and has ADSL2+, phone book features etc.

However it may give you a nag if you have modified your box e.g enabled telnet

Yes, we do want an English firmware update to use in a German box, or else ALL boxes should be made as international versions that can be converted to the appropriate language as they move around - often with their owners! Surely this would make commercial sense?

I have an International (English) 7050 annex A (using it in Belgium at 6144/640 bps), and my current firmware version 14.03.91 already has some of the 14.04.20 options that are mentioned on:

For instance:

- Telephony: Individual "Do Not Disturb" function can silence ringing at each extension separately.
- Telephony: Wake Up Call function
- Telephony: "Click to Dial" function for numbers in call list
- Telephony: Export function for call list
- Telephony: Advanced setting for Internet telephony:
- Reject callers without caller ID presentation (CLIP)
- Telephony: COLR - Display of telephone number can be suppressed
- Telephony: Support for ENUM
- Internet:Internet connection can be established via DSL or LAN (ATA mode)
- System: FRITZ!Box Night Service (turn off WLAN, inhibit ringing)
- System: Push Service (FRITZ!Box sends e-mail messages containing status and usage information

Isn't this strange? Why they mention that these are new options for 14.04.20 as they already existed in 14.03.91?

I just upgraded to the new version, and everything seems to work fine! The layout has changed quite a bit (they now use "tab" pages, for instance), but I guess all this was already available in the German version for a long time. There are a few new options (for instance the address book), but most options were already there (see my previous post), they are just located a bit differently.

Anyway, I noticed that suddenly since this firmware upgrade my signal/noise ratio (for the receive direction) has increased from about 8 dB to 16 dB! Since this is of course impossible, I was wondering if other people also have this "problem"?

Edit: also the Line Attenuation (receive direction) has increased from about 32dB to about 64dB! (now that's really high; my line is suddenly not that bad). The values for the send direction are about the same. Really strange.
