I have got a Fritz!Box fon WLAN 7140 recently. One of the first things I did was upgrading the firmware from 39.04.20 to 39.04.34. It took me a while to find out that an 169.254.1.1 address is used in recent versions, but now I have recovered the connectivity to my box
The most pressing issue I have not sorted out yet is that Fritz!Box does not assign via DHCP the IP addresses from the private network subnet to the devices in my network. It is connected to a cable modem and has internet connection sharing via LAN 1 port enabled. If I have DHCP enabled on the wired interface of my PC and then plug it into LAN 2 port of the Fritz!Box, Fritz!Box acts a "hub" and the PC gets IP address directly from the DHCP server of my ISP. On wireless interface this does not happen, I think. PC simply fails to obtain address then.
AVM positions Fritz!Box as a WLAN router with DHCP server and IP masquerading/Network Address Translation. But I can't find how the DHCP server and NAT configuration are to be done. I would appreciate if someone could point me in needed direction.
