[Howto] DS-MOD mit Cygwin für Newbies

well, as I see in your signature your native language is Italian. I'm sorry, I don't handle this language.

i've just installed the ds_mod, but the web interface that i have is different from that i've seen in the link, and it seems more easy-to-use...So, for the checkmaild, in the ds_mod 0.2.9 there is the 0.2 version, and i think that 0.4 is better (but i can mistake myself).

NO, I think you are right and it seems to be my fault.
I didn't understand your aim quit well in the last post.
So, you are already able to compile and install the ds-mod. That's good. I think the easiest way to install a newer version of a component of the ds-mod is:

1. If you unpacked the ds-mod file look in the following file:

...\home\ds-0.2.9\howtos\en\HOWTO_addons.txt

and carry out instructions by using the newer version of checkmail.
There is written:

Packages that are not yet integrated into the mod can be installed as a so
called "addon package". Download the addon package and untar it into the ./addon
folder.

e.g.
tar -C addon -xjvf /path/to/addon_package-0.1-dsmod.tar.bz2

Afterwards the package name has to be appended to the list ./addon/static.pkg as
a new line (example above: addon_package-0.1). Addon packages are startet after
the integrated packages in the order they appear in ./addon/static.pkg. The
command

make

updates the modified firmware image.

To avoid version conflicts, you should deselect the original package in the
"Package selection" section of

make menuconfig

if the addon is another version of a already ingetragted package.

2. Next run

make menuconfig

and deselect checkmail there.

Well, thats all. After a

make

you get e new FW image file.

hab es nun mit patch

cd ds-0.2.9/
tar xjf patches-ds.0.2.9-04.2x.tar.bz2

geschafft ein Image zu erstellen, bis wie es im How To steht FINISHED erscheint.

Nachdem ich es aber in die Fritzbox gespielt habe, kam Fehlermeldung der Fritzbox, kann image nicht installieren?

a) kann es an cygwin liegen

b) habe etliche packete ausgewählt, ist die 7170 auch begrentz in der Packet Anzahl.

I think that it is a simple mistake to where i've putted the source file, or to where i want to untar it, or both:noidea:
I'm not a linux expertise , i've tried to read the tar help and usage, the how to of ds_mod, but i don't understand where i'm wrong

Yes, that is right. Because there isn't a path named like that. The author wanted to say with "path/to/addon":
Your path to the addon file.
But if you are in the addon folder and the addon file is there too you don't need to specify a path. You just can use a command like the following one:

tar -C addon -xjvf addon-paket-0.1-dsmod.tar.bz2

Don't forget to change name of the file addon-paket-0.1-dsmod.tar.bz2 to the name of the file you like to add.

Yes it is, but quit funny.
The file will be unpacked automatically in a subfolder named like the addon file.

Many thanks for your answer, my error was to rename only a part of the addon-paket-0.1-dsmod.tar.bz2 ( checkmaild-.04-dsmod.tar.bz2 )
But i don't understand a thing...first of all i have used winrar to unpack the tar into the addon folder, but when i open make menuconfig there is no change, also in the package contet...
I have a doubt too: for the new web interface is sufficient to upgrade the checkmaild? or i have to use other addons like html2text?

No, you have to unpack the files only in cygwin or direct on a unix/linux system.

To add a addon file dosn't mean it change the menu you can start by typing make menuconfig. If you do everything right, you get e new FW image file by runing the make command. Update with this new file your Fritz!Box and look on dsmod webinterface. I do not use checkmail, but updated Callmonitor to version 1.7 this way and it worked.

I think the configuration page for checkmail is going to change automatically with the new version of checkmail.

Hallo,
ich hab ein bisschen rumgebastelt, nun läuft mein schöner ds-mod
nicht mehr.

Also, wenn ich übers Webif den button DS-mod drücke, kommt folgende Meldung
im Browser:

http://fritz.box/cgi-bin/dsmod_status

und die Seite bleibt leer.

Leider brachte das Image neuflashen auch keinen Erfolg.
Ich bräuchte mal Tipps, wie ich das wieder hinbekomme.

Nein, du hast mich falsch verstanden. Der Aufruf http://fritz.box:81 bewirkt eben, daß im Browser http://fritz.box/cgi-bin/dsmod_status erscheint und die
Webseite leer bleibt.

Hab nun gestern den dsmod mit "moduninstall" glöscht,
dann Original-Image,
danach wieder dsmod-Image geflasht,
trotzdem wieder gleiches Problem.

Hi buergernb, finally i've found where i was wrong...the checmaild file was not a bzip, so i've this command to unpack it: tar -xvf checkamild.tar (note: i've renamed the file to chemaild from the original name chemaild-0.4)
Now i will go to try the new fw image :mrgreen:

Hallo,
ich bin nun auch glücklicher ds-mod-Anfänger.Vielen Dank an die Authoren.
Ich habe eine FB7140 mit dem ds-mod 0.2.9 und würde gern können auf das /var Verzeichniss mit dem Total Comander zu greifen um Pakete tauschen zu können oder um Configuration-Dateien mit Metapad edietieren zu können.
Ich habe schon bei wiki.ip-forum nach FTP und auch hier nach einer Newbies Spalte gesucht aber das hier ist die enzige Section welche mit Anfänger zu tun hat.
Hättet Ihr eine idiotensichere Anleitung wie ich in das Filesystem meiner Box kommen kann.bftpd ist auf der Box instaliert un aktiviert.

Nun ist es mir gelungen eine Verbindung herzustellen aber ich weiss es nicht wo ich gelandet bin,denn da ist es alles leer:keine Dateien,keine Ordner

Du kannst mit dem bftpd im dsmod nur auf das Homeverzeichnis des angemeldeten Users zugreifen. Wie man das ändert, dazu gibt es schon einige Anleitungen im Forum. Ist aber nicht ganz so einfach.

NTFS geht nich auf der FritzBox soweit ich weiß.

Oha, ich dachte schon, ich wurde wieder "überlesen".

Ähm, ja. Im ds-mod gibt es ja die Option "fs". Da dort auch NTFS einstellbar ist, hatte ich einen NTFS Treiber vermutet, der (zumindest) das lesen von NTFS-Formatierten Platten erlaubt. Das ist letztendlich aber egal. Es ist ja kein Problem die Platte mal eben umzuformatieren, die man vorher am XP- oder 2K3-Rechner hatte. Es funktioniert auch alles soweit.

Allerdings habe ich noch ein mehr oder weniger kleines mount-Problem. Leider können alle von mir angelegten User nur lesend per ftp auf die Platte/den USB-Stick zugreifen. Per chmod lassen sich komischerweise die Rechte nicht ändern. Aber die übergeordneten Verzeichnisse lassen sich schon ändern. Ich bin noch nicht dahinter gestiegen, wie die FB die Rechte auf die Ordner vergibt. Vielleicht muss ich das wissen, um es ändern zu könnnen?

kann's daran liegen, dass die geladene Firmware zu neu ist?

Kann ich den mod trotzdem irgendwie installieren oder gehts momentan einfach nicht, bis eine neue version da ist?

Weil den genauen Fehler muss ich nicht sehen... kann eh nicht so viel damit anfangen, wenn's jedoch bei der Analyse und problembeseitigung hilft mach ich mal verbose auf 2 wenn du mir sagst wie. (einfach ins shell verbose 2 eintippen?)

Hab jetzt übrigens die neue Labor-Version drauf.
