I have the 7390 model with freetz build 9445
Im running transmission client on it and everything works great.
however, one issue is that sometimes torrent file contains many archives (.r00, .r01....) and i dont know how (if possible) to extract it from within the box.
currently i do it from my computer, over wifi..so its actually downloading & uploading at the same time at rate of 2-3mb/s which takes a very long time

You can find the source for an unrar program somewhere.
However, as the CPU of the box is not that powerful and the rar files are usually only split when they are large, it will take at least as long, because the slow speed you see comes from the USB connection and not from the network transfer.

Do you say that the 2-3MB/s wifi speed is because its "only" plugged with usb2?
Its a 480Mbit/s connection, how could it be the limit and not the wifi?

I don't know the speed of you wifi connection. To verify, you can connect with a network cable.
You can also verify the speed of the USB connection. Just do
Code:
time cat Large-File-On-Usb > /dev/null
and calculate the speed from the size of the file and the time.

I did it on a 4G file, and it returned:
^Treal 9m 48.30s
user 0m 0.67s
sys 1m 56.53s
What does it mean exactly? I kinda need an explenation :)

The time 9m 48.30s is 588s. So if you have 4000MB in 588s, that is about 6.8MB/s. So that is your USB read speed for sequential access.
