[Gelöst] [EN] FritzBox 7170 ~ Freetz Annex A

When I was few years ago living in Germany, I got a 7170 FritzBox. I've thought many times to install freezt into it, but didn't have the time until now.

The thing is, the box came with the latest firmware in german language, FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.29.04.87.image [1]. So, after reading the docs and so, I was able to compile and flash a Freetz based on this firmware.

The problem comes with I try to make it work with the DSL of my spanish provider. If I go to Internet » Zugangsdaten, and I try to fill the data required for the connection with the ISP, I miss some parameters. If I compare my current router configuration [2] [3], I can not set the same parameters, like service type or the encapsulaption mode. I guess, because of this, the router does not synchronize with the provider.

I was wondering, if maybe, the german firmware, comes with some default values, specific for german's ISPs, then, I would need to install the international firmware FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.AnnexA.en.58.04.84.image [4].

When I try to do it, the box does not start up, seems it gets stuck in some reboot bucle.

I've read a post here about changing the Firmware of the box [5] using the rukerneltool application[6], but, since I am not a german native speaker, I am not sure if it is worth it. Not sure if even the international firmware can work with the spanish provider (jazztel).

Any help/advise would be appreciated

Unless ist works with the original AVM firmware, this is not a Freetz issue.
My guess is that you need Annex A insted of Annex B (which is used in Germany).

Tenbgo una 7170 aca en Mexico y corre bien. El problema son los estandares. Alemania tienen ADSL con el Annex=B. Casi todo el mundo, sobre todo el mundo hispano usa Annex=A.
Tienes que usar el Firmware internacional que tiene el Annex=A. Mehjor sera una Fritz!Box 7170 internacional pero la alemana con el Software internacional tambien funciona.
En el rukerneltool tienes que elegir la Firmware FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.AnnexA.en.58.04.84.image

Con este y los datos correctos (usario, contraseña y mejor VPI/VCI) debera conectarse bien. Si sigures con problemas describeles aca.
Si quieres y se correo tampoco ningun problema de hacer un software avanzada con freetz pero primero intenta que si funciona con la original.

PS: Die grunde weil ich die Frage auf English geschreiben habe, ist weil Ich dachte das, wie das Problem mit deutsche firmware ist, das Lösung muss auf English geschrieben sein, so die Leute mit eine ähnliches Problem, finden es leicht. Ich weiss schon das ihr hat auf Spanish mit eine gut Absicht geschreiben, aber, aus meiner Sicht, die Antworten sollte in die selbe Sprache gewesen sein das den eigenen Frage
