Converting a German targeted Fritz!Box Fon Wlan to an International version

What does it say on the DSL-info pages ?
Could you make a Screenprint of the overview, DSL and spectre ?
It is "expected behaviour" that somewhere in the config you can read with telnet it will still say Annex B but the DSL-overview should sate Annex A when your patching was successful

...seems nobody wants to condole. Your Fritz is dead and you know you've killed him. I think we all feel sorry with you. Go get yourself a 7170, it's much more fun.

BTW, what was your firmware revision?

Is the ~ $ cat /proc/mtd output from your box or is it what someone wrote to you?

Where did you take the mtd3.bin from?

Just to inform that Fortunately my Fritz!Box is fully working and only by using the procedure that i told you.

Anyway, many thanks for your great effort on helping me.

Crake.

I have attached the screen shots - Overview, DSL etc. Appreciate any suggestions as to why I cannot get a DSL connection.

I am able to connect to my DSL provider using the router supplied by the ISP and that connects using modulation G.992.5 annex A. However using the Fritz 7141 (for which I have attached some screenshots) it does NOT connect.

First of all you screenshots are so small that i can not possibly read them
From what I could read what strikes me as odd is connecting at 609/809
meaning your upload speed exceeds your download speed.
Must say I am not familiar with the 7141 but under settings>system>internet>overview [or similar] you should find 4 or 5 tabs
Please make a separate screenprint with Ctrl+Prnt Scrn and import in ms paint.
Save as jpeg and post them here

well I have tried to upload some images as suggested. Hope this time it is readable. The 7141 screens are different, I suppose.

I had a look at your first screenshot. It can be zoomed seamlessly since it is an MS-Word embedded meta graphics image. What I see makes me think I'm unable to help you, sorry.

Why don't you write to Alpamayo, the author of the "cool modifications" and ask him what exactly he did to your Fritzbox? http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/private.php?do=newpm&u=122324

@pintux
I have to agree with telefonicus.... this is one well fucked-up box.
Do not think I can help you. If it were my box I would start from scratch i.e. recover with your original FW and start anew.
After that I would refrain from niceties like Alpamayo's

update - recovered the box back to original FW.

Thanks for trying. I will try and recover the box with the original FW - can you help me with some instructions - the CD I have is all in german which I struggle to understand (and google language translation is not easy).

Ta.

fritz!box sl

Good evening to all in forum.
I have read all the articles and especially those of haveaniceday, telefonicus, geonolis, opensoft and i found very interesting answers about the Fritzbox but i am asking for help. I have a Fritz!box SL with one Lan port,a USB port and DSL port. I am going to fritzbox menu from the lan port and i seeing that the firmware is 05.01.54 and the DSL version is 01.33.13 Annex B.
I am living in Greece and i have a PSTN line. I want to convert the box to AnnexA but i don't know wich firmware must use. I have trying to put the 10.03.94 but no success.
I kindly request any help.

I am not 100% sure it will work with the Fritz!Box SL but the basic principle is the same for all boxes.
1. Recover to your original software which is on the CD
2. FW upgrade with attached file

Box should be Annex A now
Check and upgrade to f.i. FW 10.03.94

Many thanks to fritsv.
I will try to do it but the problem is that the box is a used box and i dont have the installation CD.
I can't find the software in AVM site. If some one have the CD or a link to find it please to make an attachment.
For the moment i have used a friend's CD of fritz!box fon WLAN but nothing happened.
Thanks for your answer any way.(μορέ κοπέλι).

Do NOT recover with anything other than the recovery for your type of box, you might even destroy it.

There is two things you can do:
1. try the tar-file from #470 in the box as it is now; you might get lucky
2. ask someone for the FW you need, use it and then update with the tar-file
Asking for FW is done here:

Thank you fritsv.
I am doing as you suggest wright now.

fritz!box sl

I went to fritzbox menu ->system settings->updating firmware and i put the attachment file. The info light was blinking and after that the explorer said it was unable to find the site (192.168.178.1) and the box was restarted. When i went again to the box menu the firmware was the same.
I'll be waiting for an answer about the original recover firmware.
Thanks.

hi to all. :)

i'm a happy fritzbox 7140 user.
i convert it to english & to annex A.
everything is working OK, WLAN, all my SIP accounts etc.

but i can't understand 1 thing. my head grow up to 22 inches when i think about it.
on the first/home fritz's web interface page there is place for password.
right?
and under that is link "Click here if you have forgotten your password"
if you click there, you get the "restore the factory settings" button.
right?

and now my question is:
what the *uck this mean ?
that everyone on this world can open browser, type my IP in address bar and push that button ?
am i right ?
i can't find anywhere option to disable web access from the WAN.
everyone router that i have in my life (asus, d-link, zyxel ...) have options to disable ping, web, ftp etc. from outside.
is there any trick to keep everyone from outside to do this?

tnx in advance and sorry for my bad english.

maybe this thread isn't right place for my question, but it's the only one i find in english here, and i don't know german. :(

In standard configuration the FritzBox ist not accessable from WAN. (Despite configuration as IP-client as there isn't a real WAN then.)
The link should be there for a few minutes (I think it's 10 minutes) after reboot. Then it should disappear.

Usually you can't access the user interface from 'outside' (it takes some special preparations to allow this).

yes, you are right.
my brother is made, on his own fritz, some virtual ip, port forward or something like that, and in that case i made web access on 8080 port from the wan.

but, hmmm .... however it's little stupidly that anybody from the LAN can reset all settings.
isn't it?
is there any trick to move that link?

thank you.

Hi all,

I have a fritz!box WLAN 7050 (black 1und1 version) which I succesfully converted to English! (which was a real PITA btw)

Now I am planning to buy a German fritz!box WLAN 7140 or 7170. I wanted to ask if it is possible to convert it also to the English (and to annex A) and if there exists a procedure for doing that + where can I find it?

grtz

edit: I've seen that it exists for the 7140, but does it for the 7170?
