Hello, I would to buy on ebay this modem but since every german model is annex B it cannot work in Italy, where only annex A works.
The AVM.de said that annex A modem have a different hardware, but I've read that I can patch to annex A an adapter born annex B.
Is it true? On every 7050? How?
Thank you :)

Danke, then I have to do all these operations first by internal browser of the adapter and after the error(after the first upload)by telnet, right?
But where can i find the telnet-ar7login-reset-debug.rar? And should I flash the firmware you have in you signature? Is it the latest english one? Where can I find it?
Thanks again.

I just saw, that pt-1 did not translate everything literally. He posted an advanced guide for englisch telephone extensions.

Telnet is only an assurance. If anything goes wrong you can still reach the box by telnet. You can get it here: http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/attachment.php?attachmentid=3602&d=1106239999

This is haveanicedays modification:

* put the latest firmware onto your box
* Get this file to be able to go back to Annex B in case of emergency (for Annex B hardware only!)
* get this file, don't unpack it and load it onto your FritzBox like a normal firmware update (via the Webinterface/your browser)

That's it. The rest is only trouble shooting.

Thanks, then I can go ahead to to buy a german version...
But where is the latest english firmware? In the website of AVM?
I've heard that there is some new beta eng firmware around...

Not really. I think the newer english version is just in test by AVM.
There is a small chance of trouble with an Annex B branded to Annex A.

The Annex A frequency range is larger than the Annex B range. In case
of a critical line length you might get the Annex B hardware not to work
with Annex A.
But then you can still use the Fritzbox behine a regular DSL modem..

Regarding branding german => english. That needs special care. Under
some circumstances you might set it to a "hard to recover" state.
( via ADAM2, special bootloader of TI used by AVM )

Best regards,

Habeinenschönentag ;-)

Oh, so it couldn't work properly on my line...
And what about the english branding, what's the problem? Doesn't it became english flashing the english firmware? What do you mean?

Should work for 99.9 % of all cases, but if your provider connection is toooo far away you might
get lost syncs or a missing syncronisation. ( Until now I just remember one guy at spain )

There are some ADAM2 bootloader settings.
A) hardware type
B) language ( avm or avme )
C) Annex

A) and B) can cause trouble during booting. E.g. web interface not reachable. That's a little difficult
to recover. Also AVM recover tools might fail. ( unexpected error situation )
Mostly the english version is also older...

I just mentioned this to ask for special care. So just don't do any quick shots..

Then what should I do? In what careful way?
If I flash the box with the eng firmware(before annex A patch) will it become with english interface?

Can you reply to this plz? :)

Hi zooster,

I was offline for a while.
I do not know what to do exactly. I have no experience with the international version.
So I prefer to wait for hints from somebody else.

Have a look here for some trouble:
http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=90997 May be somebody else at the Forum can create a proper Howto ?

Haveaniceday

PS: I am currently also too busy to analyze/have a look at the international version.

Ok, I've got the 7050 annexB. I've upgraded it to the latest firmware .89.
After I've tried to upload the annex A .tar, but I've got a page where I haven't understood anything, here is the screenshot after the .tar upload. Is it normal or what?

Hi.
It's OK. The letters in red mean "No Error".
You can check the result on the "DSL-Informationen" page.

Greets, Oliver

Thx, now in the dsl page I can see annex A. Now I have only to build an adapter rj11-rj45.
Thank you very much.

Then I have to conenct only 4-5 pin(the center ones) in a RJ-45, right?

Solved, thanks :)
