How to enable SIP without setting the box up as a router?

Hi!

I recently purchased the FRITZ!Box FON 7050 WLAN, and I wonder if it's
possible to set it up as a SIP-client, but still be able to bridge DSL-LAN A?

The fact that my ISP supplies me more than one official IP makes my life a bit
easier

Hi and welcome to the forum,

yes it is possible. Connect your 7050 via LAN A to an external modem or router with internet access. Enable "Internet access via LAN A" in the GUI. You can use it as SIP client that way, too.
There might just be two shortcomings:
- If the 7050 is behind another router you might have to forward some ports in the other router to the 7050.
- QoS has to be handled in the other router (else there is no QoS).

Well, shouldn't it be possible to just set up a bridge between dsl and LAN A and still obtain IP by dhcp on the dsl interface? I just wonder since I use that sort of setup on alot of other computers (running OpenBSD thou..)

I just wanted to get rid of the other modems/routers I had, and use a "all-in-1" box instead

That should work. DSL modems, cable modems and so on are possible. What sort of modem do you want to use? A DSL modem with PPPoE?
The question with QoS gets important if the FritzBox is behind another router with other clients being parallely connected to that router as well. If the other clients cause heavy traffic, the router should have some sort of QoS.

I don't think that you quite understood my point
I got some other modems and routers, but I would rather NOT use them..

I think that this should be possible to do with the fritz!box alone in some way or another:

Bridge dsl-lan A interface
Limit lan A interface to a specified up/downstream
Obtain ip by dhcp on dsl interface

With such a setup, I would be able to make my calls with decent speechquality, use my internet connection at full speed and still get official IPs behind lan A

PS: My ISP delivers ADSL over plain ethernet 1483 bridged LLC
