Sorry for writting in english, aber mein deutsch ist nicht sehr gut. Nur Stufe A1.

I got 7390 from ebay as defekt. When i connect power on it no LEDs blinks at all. Computer also dont register device when i connect the LAN cabel. Checked some points on the device board with voltmeter and i got readings on main electrolyte capacitors, but nothing on LED, ETHERNET ports and USB ports. Board looks like new, no burnt marks, bad caps. or some visible damage. After some time i can feel on main processor heatsink small amount of heat.

Is there a way for me to repair the unit?
Can i use ejtag?
I found something on the net about (e)jtag but i am not sure where to get custom.bin for fritz!box 7390. Does anyone have it?
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi,

did you test the power supply? Some times it make problems.

greetings

It looks like you have bought a box with a lightning strike damage.
My first 7390 gets an lightning with the same abnormal behavior then yours: Heatsink gets some heat, but box will not boot.
Can you hear some electrical noise from the mainboard?

No noise at all. Have you repaired your box?
I never saw a device that got striked by the lightning but i guess man could see some burnt components or marks on the board.
Could You dump mtd2 for me? Can i use that dump for jtag or i need mtd2 in some other format?
Thanks!

EDIT: Wait, i checked again and now i hear some constant noise, like a quiet piezo or something like that.

This seems to me, that this box has the same defect than my box.
No. I havn't repaired this box, I've sold it on "Flohmarkt" here in Forum to someone who needs an casing of this box. Perhaps you bought my defective box on Ebay from that guy? Is there an label on the bottom of the box? (I've removed the label from my box when I sold it.)

I buy it, if you can not repair it. I want to make a wlan mod and need a chase for that.

greetings

Ok. I will try with jtag.
Could somebody give me mtd2 dump for Fritz!Box Fon WLAN 7390?
Or point out where i can get one.

New info folks.
I managed to revive my precious FB 7390!!! And that by pure accident. A friend of mine found where the beeping come from, it was one "coil"(red circle on picture below). When we applied pressure on it, it beeped with higher tone. He than took voltmeter and tried to measure voltage on that coil. It was low, 0.6V or something. While trying to move voltmeter probes, he accidently shortcuted component near that coil(yellow circle on picture below). We got a spark, and power led started blinking!!! There was signal on lan ports, but i could not get ip address from fritz as it restarted after half a minute or so, in a loop. I also got heat on biggest chip.
After couple of tries to get ip and failed, i started recovery and hoped for the best. It detected and recovered fritz and i can now use web gui.

FRITZ!Box_Fon_WLAN_7390_2000-2448_Platine_Frontseite-edit.jpg

Lan ports seems to work, lan1 so far, didn't tried others.
Usb is working, it sees my usb flash disk.
I cant get dsl connection, but maybe because i need annex A, i am now compiling freetz with EN interface and hope it will work.
Wlan is strange, it says in gui it is on, and led flashes for some time but i cant find it on my phone nor on my desktop. After some time wlan led goes off but in gui still says that wlan is on.
Phone rings on fon1 when i configure it, but cant get dial tone to call outside nor it rings if i call my home number from cell phone.

Is the y-cable for 7170 same as for 7390?

I compiled freetz while i was writting this post and it says it is not for my hardware. I guess i will need to change my HWRevision from ADAM2 ftp.
I am sleepy. See you tomorrow!

I flashed international multi-anex version of firmware with rukerneltool, still no dsl or phone signal. Looks like phone part may be damaged. While testing, another coil started beeping and getting hot for couple of minutes, then it stoped beeping but heat is still there. Will look into that later.
No change for wlan also, it say its on, led flashes, atheros chips get a little bit warm, but i see no signal on other devices. Wlan button working as it should, regarding to wlan led.
Lan2 port works.

Is it normal to have bootloader version 1.947 on 7390? I found this out while i was trying to put international firmware on 7390. On wehavemorefun wiki it says that 1947 is for fritz 7340 and that 7390 should have bootloader version 1819.
I didn't touched the bootloader, it was in device after i revive it and used recovery image to bring it to life.
Can this (bootloader) make problems? If so, where can i get 1819 version for download?
Thanks!

More info :)
I found after looking again at wiki that bootloader is ok.
I made serial (rs-232) connection to the router and this is the log from booting:

What is the name of wifi module, maybe i could try to manualy load it? Or is it build-in in kernel?
Some advices what to do next?

Danke schon!

This worked perfectly in my case.
There was a spark and now the Fritzbox is alive again :D
