Thanks for all the help so far but right now I am thinking of solving my problems using a hammer.

I have tried setting the following settings under the Fritz!Box Internet - > Account Information settings.
Option 1
= = = = =
Connection :
Internet connection via LAN 1 - - - Selected
Operating Mode :
Establish own Internet connection (NAT router with PPPoE or IP) - - - Selected
Account Information :
No account information required (IP) - - - Selected
Connection Settings:
Configure the IP address manually - - - Selected
IP address : 192.168.178.1 (Fritz!Box)
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Default gateway : 192.168.178.254
Primary DNS server : 192.168.178.254
With following results:
a) I cannot access the BT router unless I plug a LAN cable directly from my pc to the back of the BT Router
b) I can check an receive Email on the Fritz!Fon
c) I can make calls out using my first IP Phone provider
d) I cannot receive calls via my first IP Phone provider
e) I can register on my second IP Phone provider but cannot receive or make calls.
Option 2
= = = = =
Connection :
Internet connection via LAN 1 - - - Selected
Operating Mode :
Establish own Internet connection (NAT router with PPPoE or IP) - - - Selected
Account Information :
Account information required (PPPoE) - - - Selected
Connection Settings:
User name and password supplied
With following results:
a) No internet connection made.
Option 3

Connection :
Internet connection via LAN 1 - - - Selected
Operating Mode :
Share existing Internet connection in the network (IP client)- - - Selected
Connection Settings:
Configure the IP address manually - - - Selected
IP address : 192.168.178.1 (Fritz!Box)
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Default gateway : 192.168.178.254
Primary DNS server : 192.168.178.254
With following results:
a) I can access the BT router via the Fritz!Box connection
b) I cannot check or receive Email on the Fritz!Fon
c) I can make calls out using my first IP Phone provider
d) I can receive calls via my first IP Phone provider
e) I can register on my second IP Phone provider but cannot receive or make calls.
Option 4

Operating Mode :
Share existing Internet connection in the network (IP client)- - - Selected
Connection Settings:
Obtain the IP addresses automatically
With following results:
a) I can access the BT router via the Fritz!Box connection
b) I cannot check or receive Email on the Fritz!Fon
c) I can make and receive calls using my first IP Phone provider
d) I can make and receive calls using my second IP Phone provider
As I am getting very frustrated
with this I am going to leave it for now The IP phones are working and I have faster internet connection
. I will tackle the Email issue at a later date.
