Hi

I've read many german articles, and some of them are not 100% understood, so sorry if I started an old discussion again.

Wouldn't it be a nice feature that you would be able to register your soft or ip-phone on the FBF, and use it as an extention, next to fon1-3? then you would be able to login from remote (i.e. your office) and forward incomming fixed-line calls to this extention.

Now I register my FBF with the sipserver @ work, and forward to my voip-number@work, but not everybody has the luxury of having a sipserver at work :p

being able to register your softphone as an extention to the FBF would be a lot handier i think

anybody the same thought?

Asterisk auf FBF 7170 ?

For sure the ability to register your SIP-Phone ( soft or hard-phone ) on the FBF would provide a couple additional benefits, such as:
- ablility to receive your analogue / ISDN calls also on your SIP-Phone
- being able to establish a fallback to ISDN / analogue in case your DSL connection is gone ( this never happens ;-) )

I have also been looking for a similar possibility but didn't find anything so far. Technically it should be feasible ... basically you would have to run an Asterisk server on the FBF ( or a subset of functionality of it ).
People have Asterisk servers already running on Linksys routers ... hope that it'll be running on the FBF soon too.

If you find anything ... then pls. PM me too!!!

Guys any hints ?

Gibt es evtl. schon irgendwelche Versuche mit Asterisk auf der FBF ?

i also think that such a feature would be great.
at the moment i try to run an asterisk server in my lan, and i would like to make calls over the cellular and/or my voip line

is it possible to run a very small asterisk on the box or is it to big and/or resource hungry

Asterisk auf FBF 7170 ?

According to http://wiki.openwrt.org/TableOfHardware OpenWRT has not yet been migrated onto the AVM FBF.

Unfortunately I am lacking time AND knowledge ( which could be overcome ) to do it myself.

... but running an Asterisk on the FBF sounds like a great IDEA :D

The WRT54G doesn't have more capacity than the AVM, why I would expect it not to be a resourcing issue.
