Hi to everybody. First of all, sorry for posting here in english language, but unfortunately I don't know your language (I'm italian).
I'm writing here, in a german forum, because I need to test a little application that I wrote las week, on a "genuine" german firmware Fritz!Box.

As many of you know, the Child Protection feature (available on new firmwares) limits the Internet usage for the kids.

Unfortunately, you know also that the Fritz!Box, at the end of the time, drops out the connection to the user without any warning!! So the kids becomes angry, and continuosly ask us for the "remaining time", because they don't know how much time they spent, and how much time is remaining.

This is why I wrote a little and compact application, to let my doughter to know the remaining time directly on its workstation. Now all is working fine, my daughter is happy because she can manage itself the "surfing time", and finally there is peace at home... :)
My software does not need installation (it's only a small <100Kb executable file, thanks to a massive usage of API calls). It does not need also to be configured, because it contact the Fritz!box at its default DNS name (fritz.box).

I provided for both the english firmware and german firmware connection strings, so - I believe - it should work on any Fritz!Box without problem.

But, of course, I tested it only on an english Fritz!Box (I don't own a true german Fritz!Box) so I can't test if it works fine on german routers.

This is why I'm writing here... :)

I'm looking for someone, running the "Child Protection" feature on its Fritz!Box, that like to test my program.
Please contact me when intersted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Also neulich gab es doch noch einen Link? Hab es jetzt nicht ausgiebig getestet, aber scheint ganz nett.

Hi to all, as well as I closed the project, the link I published in the original post was removed. Moreover, the beta version I published here contains some little bugs, that I fixed during the last days.

I wrote my first post here about two weeks ago, asking for an help, but no one answered to my help request!! So I removed the link to the application, assuming that no one of you was interested to test/use this utility.

Fortunately, an Italian user (owning a german Fritz!Box 7170) tested my application on its german router, and the result is that my software works fine on both english and german Fritz!Box.

So I closed the project, and sent the utility to AVM, for evaluation and as suggestion. I immediately received a compliment by AVM, and I'm waiting to be contacted from the AVM developer staff, because may be that they are interested to obtain the source code of my project.

So, please wait for a few weeks... if AVM will like and will get my project, you will be able to download it as "official AVM product", from the official AVM ftp site.

Otherwise, I will release it as freeware, on an italian website.
In that case, I will publish here the link, of course.

Note: the final version of the utility is working very fine, but run an english interface. I'm looking now for a german translation of the interface... if someone of you is interested to cooperate with me, in order to translate a few strings (about a dozen) from english to german, please contact me at bierreuno gmail dot com.

Thanks to all, and my apologies for the delay... don't worry, the utility will be available for free, in a few weeks, from AVM or from a personal website.

Sincerely,

Bruno Naglieri - Rome (Italy)
