Hallo,

My German is really poor, so I will post in English; sorry for that.

I live in France and just bought a FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7050 (international edition with GUI in English).

I encountered no problem to configure it except for the fixed line settings.
I followed the scheme of the documentation to plug everything correctly but my fixed line is still unusable.
I plugged the cable from the DSL splitter to the DSL plug on the FB.
I plugged the cable of the fixed line to the ISDN/Analog plug on the FB.
And finally I plugged my DECT telephone to the Fon 1 plug on the FB.
I configured the FB for analog line (I'm using a POTS analog line from France Telecom).

When I try to force an outgoing call with the "*111#" key combination, the Fixed-line LED just blink one second and the call is redirected through the VOIP line as the fixed line is unavailable.
And if I call my fixed line phone number, the call fails.

I would like that all my incoming calls (placed to the fixed line or to the voip line) make my DECT phone ring. I read that it should be possible.

Does somebody have an idea ?
I there limitation due to the French telecom network ?

thanks for your help and best regards

I realize after using google translator that I'm not exactly in the right part of the forum.
Sorry...
But anyway I need your help !

First check that you have plugged everything in right. THere is an ISDN plug there which is only for ISDN phones so make sure you have not plugged something into this.

Ok first test to make sure your fixed line works. I would do this by taking the cord out of the analog/isdn port of the fritz box and plug it into your DECT telephone. I assume when you do that you can make fixed line calls and receive calls properly.

Then plug it back into the Fritzbox.
Only plug one phone into the port. Because the english firmware is so old I do not know what it looks like but I believe there are two things that you should check. First you have to make sure that in the settings you have told the fritz box that your fixed line phone is an analogue phone and then enter the number of your fixed line phone.

Second in the extensions for the phone one extension (where your dect phone should be connected to) you should check to make sure that in the drop down lists that your fixed line phone number is there. You should check the box which is something like react to all incoming calls.

Also when you pick up the telephone you do you get a dial tone right?
Do calls work with VoipBuster?
Have you got somebody or have you tried to call your self with voipbuster?

Once you have checked those things see how you go.

EDIT: by the way you did post in the wrong area, but so did I for my first thread. They will move it.

Yes it works.

Is there a newer firmware for the international version of the FB 7050 ? I see that you run version 14.04.06. Does it fit for my version ?
I did not find any update for my version on AVM website.

I did that; but should I enter the phone number under international form or no need to put the "0033" for France ?
Anyway, I already tried both.

Yes the voip line works perfectly for incoming and outgoing calls.
My only problem is actually with the fixed line.
I thought my cabling was wrong but I did what you explained; so I don't see what's the problem...

Thanks a lot for your help.

I am using the box in German. You have bought a German product where by chance they decided to throw an English version in there ONCE. There has never been an update. But please, please write a full letter of request and complaint to AVM asking why the international version has no update.

As far as I know that makes no difference to analgue. And in any case even if it made a difference it would only be on incoming calls. I am not an expert so somebody else might be able to help you here. I do not use a fixed line phone at all and when i did it was ISDN.

I am also not European so I am not familiar with the different standards each country has. I do know that to connect an analogue phone in some countries eg Australia or USA you have to swap some of the pins around. I am not sure about France.

For me in Australia the following was helpful but I have no idea for France

The FBF uses pin 1 and 8 for the analog signal. Pins 3-6 are the ISDN pins.

The FBF comes with an adapter that connects the pins 1 and 8 to the corresponding pins of German telecom sockets. So you have to build such a adapter yourself connecting pin 1 and 8 to the telephone line.

Hi Darbid.

I will do so.

If I understand well, the firmware version you are using is in German, right ? because on AVM website the last version of International firmware is apparently 08.04.02, not even 14.03.91. Quite strange, no ?

I will try to ask our telephony supplier at work. May be he knows a little about that.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

Hi there,

is it possible that there is a problem with the connection between your pots-outlet and the FBF? In the Germany version you ha a speciallly designed cable / connector set to connect the FBF to the phone outlet - the cable is designed to work for both, POTS and ISDN.

Regards,

Florian

yes it's possible.
French telephone plugs are not standard rj11
it's not easy to knom exactly which wires are used

I will perform tests on this

Hello clickux,

for the connection of the france RTC to the Fritz!Box you need a special cable. The RTC uses the both middle lines on RJ12 and the Fritz!Box uses the both outer lines on RJ45.

Best regards
ds-sb

Hi ds-sb,

the RJ12 is on the telephone plug side ?
because on common French plugs, this is RJ11.

I will try to modify my cable as you told me

thanks

Hi all,

I followed the indications from ds-sb and it works !

I modified my french plug on the RJ45 side (FBF side).

Thanks to all of you for your assistance !

brgds,
JP
