i have installed hylafax and iaxmodem following http://the-asterisk-book.com/1.6/faxserver-mit-iaxmodem-und-hylafax.html.
it works fine and i can receive the faxes. i do have an isdn line with 4 numbers and i have an assignment of extensions to msn when calling to show this as outgoing number.
my extensions are 7500-7509. my msns are 123456780-123456783. the assignment is
-when ext 7500 calls it will show 123456780
-when ext 7501 calls it will show 123456781
-when ext 7502 calls it will show 123456782
-when ext 7503 calls it will show 123456783

i do receive faxes on 123456782, but when i send it goes on the default number 123456780. how can i send faxes as ext 7502 to get all the number assignment correctly?
In other words where do i set the extension to send from?

Unfortunately You can not influence the CLIP by any setting at the client side.
To set up the correct MSN for outbound calls You'll need to set the MSN (123456782) as callerid in /etc/asterisk/iax.conf.
Afterwards it shoud work as expected (The MSN actually used is the so called "Base-MSN" for the ISDN line which will be used everytime You don't set up a different MSN for the specified call).

may i have an example where to set the extension in /etc/asterisk/iax.conf? So i could get the correct msn to show in the outside world.

Example:

Code:
[iaxmodem]
type=friend
requirecalltoken=no
secret=secret
host=dynamic
transfer=no
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
port=4570
[B]callerid=Telefax <123456789>[/B]

The bold marked line sets the callerid where the number part has to be set as last part in brackets.
The number part have to correlate to both a MSN You own and to the format Your provider expect the MSN to be set to )this may include the area code preceeded by the code for long distance calls. If You're unsure in regard to the number format needed You will have to find it out by Trial and Error strategy :cool:

Hi. I have changed my setup a bit. The ISDN gets into asterisk through extensions of fritzbox (620-623).I have done the number assignment of numbers in fritz and my fax is 622.during setup of hylafax (faxsetup) which number do I have to setup? The real DID which never shows up in asterisk but only in fritz, or the 622?if it is the 622 then what do I put as national and international numbers that faxsetup asks for?

Your DID in Asterisk is 622 than.
But: All parameters within hylafax itself are independent from that as they only effect hylafax but not asterisk or Your fritzbox.
Hylafax configures on the one hand T.30 parameters as Your LocalIdentifier and on the other hand dialing parameters which should reflect the weay You want to hand over a callnumber to hylafax in order to send out a fax. In Europe You usually would use a 0 as long diatance prefix and a 00 as international prefix with Your countrycode and Your area code both excluded from any breakout-codes.
These 4 configuration parameters have - in conjunction with the hylafax dialrules-File used - to match Your asterisk configuration in externsions.conf (or .ael or .lua) in the context Your iax.conf is pointing to for your iaxmodem(s).

now i have lost you completely :D
i am in Greece. national code is 0030.
area code is 21 and my number is 210983214. wil have a 10digit dialing patern. i have fritzbox to translate 210983214 to 622 extension and vice versa. so in fasetup of hylafax which settings do i have to put?

national code is 0030

No, that's not correct. While living in Athens (Greece) Your data in hylaFAX should be the following (relevant part, Your phonenumber is incomplete as it should have 8 significant digits starting with 0 as a greece number is AFAIK always a 10Digit number including it's area code)

Code:
Country code [1]? 30
Area code []? 21
Phone number of fax modem [+1.999.555.1212]? +30 21 0983214
Local identification string (for TSI/CIG) ["NothingSetup"]?
[B]Long distance dialing prefix [1]? [/B]
International dialing prefix [011]? 00
Dial string rules file (relative to /var/spool/hylafax) [etc/dialrules]? etc/dialrules.europe

For "Long distance dialing prefix [1]? " You would need to enter a Space character as You don't use long distrance prefixes in Greece.

Again: Your extension 622 at Your fritzbox has nothing to do with Your faxsetup! The 622 has only to be set up as callerid when making an outbound fax call. This is done in iax.conf (asterisk) as already written in the thread.

good day everyone. i am having an issue with my setup. the fritzbox's IP extension registers fine to asterisk (freepbx). Voice calls go fine. the problem is with faxing. the fax does go in/out at all.
the line i do have on the fritzbox is an ISDN and one of the msns is dedicated as fax. after the failure to send receive faxes from asterisk, i have configured port 2 (fon2) in fritzbox 7170 with the msn and i plugged in an analogue fax machine. the fax can send/receive fine. i have a real problem with that and i would like to ask for some help please.

someone please?

hello everyone. has anyone tried something similar?
i would like to know if fritzbox can function properly with that or dump the idea.
i've forgot to mention that capi (#96*3*) is already enabled.
