Hi all

I am trying to get my 7270 to both behave as a full dsl-router, and at the same time, keep one of the switch-ports linked to the dsl-modem side.

This is useful, as my DSL provider allows me to get multiple IP addresses. They are not using pppoe but direct bridged ethernet with dhcp. So I can have a separate real IP address for another device. Mostly useful if it also uses SIP, as SIP and RTP protocols sometimes mess each other up if they go over the same NAT device.

Using a separate DSL modem, and settings "Internetzugang über LAN 1" with "NAT-Router mit IP", and also use switch configuration utility cpmaccfg to add LAN2 to the WAN/LAN1 port. So the FRITZ is connected to the modem using LAN1, and LAN2 is switched with that and so my Asteriks device also gets a direct connection and outside IP address from the modem.

(Yes, I know you can install Asteriks on Fritz, done that, but it still has problems with the ports, even after moving asteriks to 5061)

BUT:

I'd like to use the 7270 build in dsl-modem. I like to believe it is better. I want to avoid having to power 3 devices. Lost of excuses, in the end, the separate modem works and does what I want but if possible, I would like to use the internal modem.

I was thinking I could do this if I simply use the normal "Internetzugang über DSL" config, and *still* split the ethernet switch to have a few ports to WAN.

But the wan interface seems not to become active in this mode. So Fritz connects and get an IP address, the switch is setup to connect WAN to LAN1 and LAN2, but WAN is not listed in the ifconfig using this.

Anyone has any ideas how to active the wan interface, and if it is connected to the modem if you do that.

There also seems to be a value "mode = dsldmode_both" in the ar7.cfg, but it seems to not do anything. It behaves exactly like "mode = dsldmode_bridge" or "mode = dsldmode_router" depending where you changed it from.

So if anyone has some knowledge here, or a better description of what the various "mode = " do, I would appriciate.

Thanks
Maurits

PS: The settings I use to split the switch in debug.cfg for the working separate modem setup
Code:
#!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/telnetd -l /sbin/ar7login

# This sets wan to be port 0,1,2 and eth0 only port 3
# so LAN1 to LAN3 is directly connected to INTERNET, only LAN4 is INTRANET
