Hello,
I have a 1&1 branded 7240.
I haved used it with stock firmware, and then with native freetz.
I have chosen to do not use branding using the freetz web interface.

Later on I've loaded my 7240_7270_v3_05.06-freetz-devel-9180.en_20120624-223330.image alien image. I wanted to have english interface. The upgrade passed, but since then the router keeps rebooting every few minutes.

I'm unable to log in to http://fritz.box (connection does not succeed), get ssh connections dropped, and incorrect password when I try to log in using telnet. Adam2 also doesn't work, but it may be because of the weird ubuntu network configuration (that NetworkManager makes me mad, it was sooooo much easier on gentoo).

I'd like to get the alien version working, or downgrade to the previously working native 7240 image.
Please help...

EDIT:
Ah, I've tried to reset to factory defaults using the attached phone ( #991*15901590*), but it didn't work.

I've managed to set static IP on my desktop. Adam2 and push_firmware can be run, but I didn't get the upgrade installed...

Perhaps it's easier to help you if you give detailed error messages instead of nothing?

Oliver

But it doesn't look like there is an error at all. I try to uplad the firmware that was working correct before the alien firmware:

gdn-n-tomaszdl2 tools # ./push_firmware ../images/7240_05.22-freetz-devel-9180.de_20120621-233546.image -f

Hint: file seems to be a full firmware image archive in 'tar' format
containing the 'kernel.image'. Now trying to unpack and use that image.
ftp command found

* You should now reboot your box (192.168.178.1).
Waiting for box to shut down.
Tip: switch off, if reboot is not detected because it happens too quickly

Trying to re-detect box.

Tip: switch off/on box several times, if FTP client cannot log in ...

The box reboots, Power/DSL LED flashes for a while, then the WLAN LED starts flashing, then the WLAN LED stands lit, while Power/DSL is flashing. It works like that for few minutes, and then the box reboots and the cycle starts over.

The router does route the web connection, and I can access the Internet both via WIFI and wired connection, but the web interface is not avaliable: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection.

The error you described is not in the update procedure, but the reboot after that.

If the firmware that worked previously now doesn't work you most likely changed something in the configuration.

I've also tried to flash the stock firmware: /push_firmware ../dl/fw/FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7240.73.05.22.image

While upgrading, the INFO LED flashes and then the box reboots. I may we wrong, but shouldn't it last for longer, and shouldn't other LEDs start blinking? I have the impression that is was was working that way in my old 7140.

EDIT:
And when I try to reset to factory default the ususal reboot chain doesn't break. AFAIR the box should immediatelly restart, but the "few minutes of work" period is preserved. The FON LED is lid when I pick up the handset though.

EDIT2:
Maybe I could do some diagnostics using adam2 shell? I only know how to change variables, and not how to print set values. Is there something like uboot's printenv?

Any progress here in the last weeks?

Not really.
I've asked someone selling modded fritzboxes for help, and got adviced to use the rukrenel utility. I've tried using it with computer taken from my work (I don't own any computer with windows myself), but it wasn't even able to read any data from the box, not to mention writing. There must have been some network monitoring/firewall software I'm not aware of, and probably not authorised to remove/turn off.

Right now I use another fritzbox, that I'm willing to handle to my in-laws when I get the 7240 fixed.

It's very difficult to solve these types of errors without a serial cable...

Okay. If you get it working you can show me some output to analyze the crash...

Oliver
