Hi,
i have 7240 1&1
this is my config: 7240_7270_v2_labor_dsl_04.88freetz-devel-6483.de

after uploading image i tried to change annex unsuccesfully.

I tried in this way:

echo "kernel_args annex=A" > /proc/sys/urlader/environment
echo "annex A" > /proc/sys/urlader/environment
export ANNEX='A'
export CONFIG_ANNEX='A'
export CONFIG_DSL_MULTI_ANNEX='y'
set|env

/etc/init.d/rc.dsl.sh stop
/etc/init.d/rc.dsl.sh start

and i tried also in this way:

adam2
quote SETENV annex A
quote SETENV kernel_args annex=A

Settings inputed by telnet or ftp won't stay permanently.
But without any problem i can change firmware_version by quote SETENV firmware_version avm or avme, so some changes are possible.

I have old image from Rudi

avme_7240_7270_04.81freetz-devel-5712.a-ch
and this image works perfectly, it means that i can change annex through adam2 or just simple by choosing annex while webgui start.

Is there anybody that have annex A on 7240alien on newest trunk ?

One more thing i can't test annex, i can only read the values at the moment. At "Box info" page i have:
annex A under "DSL drivers and hardware"
annex B under "Environment variables"

Tom

Why do you think that your changes were unsuccesfull?

Regards
Oliver

because at "Box info" page i have:
annex B under "Environment variables"
and also, when i execute command env under telnet i see annex=B
this is not enough to confirm annex type ? I cannot test it through dsl line ,because i dont have any at the moment.
I will be in need of annex A in April or little later, but already want to be prepared for this moment.

Regards
Tom

What value does "CONFIG_ANNEX" have for you?
Code:
# env |grep ANNEX
ANNEX=B
CONFIG_DSL_MULTI_ANNEX=n
CONFIG_ANNEX=B
Regards
Oliver

Code:
ANNEX=B
CONFIG_DSL_MULTI_ANNEX=n
CONFIG_ANNEX=B

Regards
Tom

"echo "kernel_args annex=A" > /proc/sys/urlader/environment" is supposed to work. What does "cat /proc/sys/urlader/environment | grep kernel_args" give you?

Regards
Oliver

edit: But it doesn't work for me, too. Strange...

I have change the ANNEX-Version of my 7170 with ruKernelTool from ANNEX-B (1&1) to ANNEX-A (a-CH). After that I have build a FW
with the Stable-1.1 Version and it works. The Image was tested by a user and he said it work wonderful. By the trunk we have a little problem with the LED's, but in my opinion the trunk should work, but we can't test it.

But you can test it if you want. Build a Image and flash it by ruKernelTool, but don't wonder. The LED's will flash as a christmastree but it will work i think.

Here you will find the Link: http://www.rainerullrich.de/ruKernelTool/FAQ.html#1.22 But it's written in German.

Are you sure that "7270_v2_labor_dsl_04.88" comes with a DSL-Annex-A driver? Generally in the past only the 7270 finals had both drivers A+B aboard.

Yes it does. I checked it.

Hi all, after long time i'll try to make a new fw for my 7240 with the last trunk (at the moment 6629), but even if choice 7270 v2 or v3 for alien hardware, when i try to update (via freetz interface) it give me back an error sayng different hardware.
Looking on the 100-7240_7270.sh file i've not found any issue, but i don't know where i can search to try solve.
Thanks in advance for any purpose

I recently changed the procedure of building 7240 Alien firmwares. The german version is now built from the 7270 v3 firmware. Unfortunately there is no v3 international firmware available.

Are there 7240 Annex A boxes available or did you change the Annex manually? I can't find an international firmware for the 7240 on ftp.avm.de.

Regards
Oliver

Hi Oliver, it's a pleasure to read you again :)
7240 has not annex A fw, i changed it manually.
For the recovery i have to set manually the brand to avm, so, do you think i have to change back the annex to B for the upgrade?
Thanks a lot
Tokka

Edit: i add an image of the error, if it may be helpful

Hi Oliver :)
The update now works, but after that, the fritz crash and reboot.
The last working trunk i used was 5770, if it may be helpful.
Thanks again
Tokka

Could you please test a firmware built with trunk r6605? Then I will try to find any differences between the two images.

Regards
Oliver

edit: I looked at it again but can not see any differences between the files.

I have made test, caoming back untill trunk 6400, but noone firmware works :(
With trunk 6300 i need the .86 original firmware, but i haven't it.
May it depende from some change to .87 version?
I have not more ideas at the moment:(

Why don't you simply copy an annex A driver from a suitable 7270 fw into your 7240 fw? Or do you also need english menue and are therefore seeking the alien procedure?

I tried a lot of trun, coming back and back...just tried revision 6605, 6600, 6500, 6400 (and a lot of trunk between these), and after that, i found that tunk 5770 works, but 5850 not. So i think may be something in the passage from fw .80/.81 to .86. But i don't know what. I suppose it would be a patch, but nothing more :(
Hope this may be an help for finding the trouble.

@ imagomundi: i could change simply the annex module, but i prefer the alin for the translation, the sip server, a for my fun :p I have also tried the full repalcement with the fw of 7270, but the box will reboot at the same way :(

Thanks again
Mfg
Tokka
