Here is the way to backup your firmware and your rom user.
Login to your Zyxel via a TELNET session.
Type the command on telnet :
sys stdio 0
On another terminal window, then on your command line window :
To download the firmware (ras) and the user eeprom (rom-0)
tftp -i IP_ADDRESS GET ras
tftp -i IP_ADDRESS GET rom-0
